Here’s How Much Crypto President Trump Owns

President Trump is a whale! A big, fat crypto whale!

For those who don’t know, a ‘whale’ is someone who owns a sizable amount of cryptocurrency.

The reigning orthodoxy says an individual must hold at least 20 Bitcoin (or equivalent) to be considered a whale. At the time of this writing, 20 Bitcoin equals $571,320.

According to recent financial disclosures, President Trump holds roughly $2.8 million in Ethereum—the largest alternative crypto altcoin.

Additionally, the 45th President of the United States earned roughly $4.9 million from selling NFTs. …

This makes the previously reported figure of $250,000 look like chump change. …It also highlights just how much the former President’s attitude has changed regarding cryptocurrencies and digital assets.

Iren Barnes writes: “Previously, the former president criticized cryptocurrencies and called them a “scam”. In a nutshell about what you need to know about the behavior of “whales.”

Decrypt had this to report on Trump-themed NFT collections:

Sales of the tokens took off in the months following their release last December, including a brief surge after his first indictment by a state court in New York.

However, their value sank soon after the candidate launched a second batch in April that crashed the first set’s value.

Melania Trump shared one example of the digital collectibles (NFTs) marketed by both President Trump and the former First Lady.

CoinDesk amended earlier reports that estimated President Trump’s crypto holdings at 6-figures:

The new finding shows that Trump is even more invested in crypto than earlier filings showed.

CoinDesk reported earlier this week that Trump disclosed up to $500,000 held in digital assets according to a government document dated April 14.
