Biden Is Requesting Billions To House Illegal Immigrants

The Biden administration is requesting Congress to approve a temporary housing program for illegal immigrants that could cost taxpayers billions.

The Biden administration is requesting a $40 billion emergency spending request to Congress.

Within that $40 billion spending request, the Biden admin wants to spend $2.7 billion to House illegal immigrants.

According to a report the DHS would use taxpayer funds  “to set up new types of facilities to hold migrant families as they go through an expedited asylum and deportation process.”

The report states the real purpose of the facilities and states “Migrant family members would be able to come and go as they please during the day.”

Per Axios:

The Biden administration is asking Congress to approve a temporary housing program for migrant families that illegally cross the southern border — a plan that would give them more freedom than traditional detention, Axios has learned.

Why it matters: The government has struggled to balance humanitarian concerns about detaining migrant children while enforcing immigration laws amid a rise in families illegally crossing the border to seek asylum.

The administration’s ask is part of a $40 billion emergency funding request to Congress. The package includes nearly $2.7 billion for the Department of Homeland Security’s various border efforts.
Driving the news: DHS wants the ability to use funds to set up new types of facilities to hold migrant families as they go through an expedited asylum and deportation process.

Migrant family members would be able to come and go as they please during the day, but would be required to check in and stay the night on the campus, a DHS official told Axios.

NYC Mayor Eric Adams is calling for Biden to declare a state of emergency due to the lack of shelter in NYC for illegal immigrants.

Take a look:

Per the DC Enquirer:

On Wednesday, New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) went back to his usual spiel of calling on the federal government to help the rapidly declining city manage its self-induced migrant crisis, but this time going an extra step further and saying that the Biden administration should declare a state of emergency to handle the migrant crisis.

“Since last year, nearly 100,000 asylum seekers have arrived in our city asking for shelter, and we are past our breaking point,” Adams said in a statement, per Fox News. “New York City has been left to pick up the pieces of a broken immigration system – one that is projected to cost our city $12 billion over the course of three fiscal years without policy changes and further support from the state and federal governments.”

“We saw the effects clearly last week outside the Roosevelt Hotel,” Adams said. “Adult asylum seekers were sleeping on the pavement because our shelter system was full. I went again and again to speak with the men there. It broke my heart. It breaks this city’s heart. Asylum seekers come here in search of a dream, not a nightmare.”
