WATCH BREAKING: AG Garland Appoints Hunter Biden Special Counsel

Well, this was unexpected. …

According to the latest reports, Attorney General Merrick Garland has appointed a Special Counsel to oversee the Hunter Biden investigation.

David Weiss has been appointed by Garland, and it is worth mentioning that Weiss reportedly asked Garland for the appointment. …

It remains to be seen what Weiss does, if he does anything at all, and we eagerly await his final report. …

That being said, many (including myself) believe that this appointment simply represents stalling and sabotage tactics on the part of the Department of Justice.

The DOJ wants to highlight its commitment to impartiality and transparency—could this recent move represent no more than a PR stunt designed to cover up the weaponization of the agency?

I think so, but I’ll let you read on and come to your own conclusions:

The Republican National Convention Research arm highlights this interaction between Garland and the press:

“If Weiss had the authorities he needed, why does he need to be a special counsel? Do you still have faith in U.S. Attorney Weiss after the [Hunter Biden] deal fell apart?”

Biden AG Merrick Garland: *ignores*

BBC News provided this statement from Garland:

“The appointment of Mr Weiss reinforces for the American people the department’s commitment to both independence and accountability in particularly sensitive matters.”

Paul Sperry writes: “Sen. Chuck Grassley just said he does not have confidence that prosecutor David Weiss can do “a thorough” job re-investigating Hunter Biden as a special counsel because he failed to investigate documentary evidence that Grassley previously sent Weiss.”

Sperry went on: “Just weeks before US Attorney David Weiss was scheduled to appear before Congress to address IRS whistleblowers’ allegations he throttled their investigation into Hunter Biden felonies, Weiss on Tuesday reached out to AG Garland to ask him to appoint him Special Counsel.”

Daily Caller notes:

Weiss advised Garland on Tuesday that the ongoing investigation had “reached the stage” where he should continue as a special counsel, according to Garland.

Weiss will continue to serve as U.S. Attorney for the District of Delaware.
