Longshot Republican Presidential Candidate Qualifies For Debate Stage

Longshot Republican presidential candidate Perry Johnson has officially qualified to be on the RNC debate stage.

Johnson who is a businessman and author from Michigan qualified to go on the debate stage after receiving campaign donations from over 40,000 donors.

Johnson made the announcement on Twitter and wrote: “We reached a critical campaign milestone. Today, in New Hampshire, I announced we reached the 40,000 donors needed to make the RNC debate stage.”

He continued “We did it thanks to our generous donors. Thank you!”

The Washington Examiner reported these details:

Perry Johnson, a long-shot Republican presidential candidate, announced that he has reached the 40,000 donor threshold required by the Republican National Committee to attend the primary debates.

If confirmed, the entrepreneur will have reached the threshold ahead of other, more popular, Republican candidates, such as former Vice President Mike Pence, as well as Miami Mayor Francis Suarez. While Perry didn’t immediately say how he went about fundraising, it likely came in large part due to his novel strategy of selling $1 T-shirts in order to acquire a substantive number of individual donors.

“We reached a critical campaign milestone. Today, in New Hampshire, I announced we reached the 40,000 donors needed to make the RNC debate stage,” he announced in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter. “We did it thanks to our generous donors. Thank you!”

Here’s what Newsmax reported:

Businessman and entrepreneur Perry Johnson, a candidate for the GOP presidential nomination, announced this past weekend he has reached the threshold of 40,000 unique donors as required by the Republican National Committee to participate in the first primary debate on Aug. 23.

Johnson, a pro-MAGA candidate who has been advocating a 2% cut in nonessential federal programs, has become a rising star among grassroots conservatives.

In July Johnson finished second place in Turning Point USA’s Action Summit straw poll.

According to his campaign, he also has met another RNC requirement: having 200 donors across 20 states.

While closing in on the potential to join the Aug. 23 RNC debate in Milwaukee, Johnson still has polling hurdles to cross.

The RNC requires candidates to poll at least 1% in three national polls or 1% in two national polls and 1% in one early state poll from two separate “carve out” states (Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada, South Carolina).
