Former Musician and Convicted Pedophile in Critical Condition After Prison Stabbing

A former musician and convicted pedophile is in critical condition after he was discovered with stab wounds in his jail cell.

46-year-old Ian Watkins gained fame as the lead singer of the band Lostprophets.

In 2013, he was charged with sex crimes against children.

Watkins was on year 10 of a 29-year prison sentence.

He was allegedly held hostage by three other inmates for six hours and received several stab wounds.

Watkins’ crimes include the rape of a child under the age of 13, and conspiracy to rape a one-year-old.

Needless to say, nobody is shedding a tear for this scumbag…

The New York Post provided details on the attack:

A pedophile Welsh rock singer who confessed to sexual offenses against young children and babies is fighting for his life after he was stabbed and held hostage by fellow inmates inside one of the harshest prisons in the UK, according to a report.

Ian Watkins, 46, the former lead singer of the now-disbanded band Lostprophets, was found stabbed in his jail cell inside His Majesty’s Prison Wakefield by the prison’s guards and rushed to a hospital in a “life-threatening condition.”

“There are fears he could die. If he survives, he’ll have been very lucky.” sources told the Mirror.

Three inmates took Watkins, 46, hostage around 9 a.m. on Saturday where he was stabbed multiple times and beaten up before prison personnel “freed” him six hours later, the outlet reported.

Watkins founded Lostprophets in 1997 until the band disbanded in 2013 when he was sentenced to jail.

The Blaze has more on the investigation:

According to The Mirror, “The prison had to wait until a ‘Tornado Crew’ could be assembled – specialist officers trained in hostage situations. The three prisoners kept Watkins hostage for almost six hours – it is believed the attack took place on B wing where 70 percent of the prisoners are serving life and 20 percent serving 10 years or more. So serious were his injuries it is understood that he received emergency treatment from paramedics in an ambulance on the prison estate.”

The outlet said Watkins was hospitalized and “seriously ill” after being “locked in his cell and stabbed by other prisoners in Wakefield prison.”

Sky News is reporting, “The pedophile sustained injuries which are not life-threatening following an incident at HMP Wakefield in West Yorkshire.”

A spokesperson for U.K.’s prison system said, “Police are investigating an incident which took place on Saturday at HMP Wakefield. We are unable to comment further while the police investigate.”
