Ray Epps Files LAWSUIT Against Fox News Over January 6th; Claims DOJ Will Press Charges

Has the truth become a liability in our society, or are some just exploiting the system for a quick buck?

Let’s scrutinize this latest development with Ray Epps, who’s at the heart of a controversial theory surrounding the Capitol attack on January 6, 2021.

Now he’s suing Fox News and Tucker Carlson, alleging they defamed him by suggesting he was an undercover agent, stirring the pot at the Capitol to sully President Trump and his supporters.

But isn’t it curious how quickly people come out of the woodwork with lawsuits, especially against outspoken conservative voices?

This legal spat, filed in Delaware’s Superior Court, smells a bit like déjà vu, doesn’t it?

Recall the hefty $787.5 million settlement Fox recently doled out to Dominion Voting Systems over allegations of election rigging against Trump.

So, is Epps trying to cash in on Fox’s apparent vulnerability?

Or does he genuinely seek justice?

YouTuber StateOfDaniel provides some details you need to know about Epps:

Other social media users came out to criticize Epps’ lawsuit.

Some people claim he just wants a part of the pie that Dominion was able to get out of Fox News.

His complaint claims that Fox News needed a scapegoat for the January 6th events and pinned it on him. He insists that the network has been promoting this “lie.”

But let’s not forget that our pursuit of truth may often lead us down challenging paths, where powerful entities would rather we didn’t tread.

Is it wrong to question Epps’s role, to demand clarity on his actions?

The New York Times reports:

Ray Epps, the man at the center of a widespread conspiracy theory about the attack on the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, filed a lawsuit on Wednesday accusing Fox News and its former host Tucker Carlson of defamation for promoting a “fantastical story” that Mr. Epps was an undercover government agent who instigated the violence at the Capitol as a way to disparage President Donald J. Trump and his supporters.

The complaint was filed in Superior Court in Delaware, where Fox recently agreed to a $787.5 million settlement in a separate defamation case brought by Dominion Voting Systems to combat claims that the company had helped to rig the 2020 election against Mr. Trump.

“Just as Fox had focused on voting machine companies when falsely claiming a rigged election, Fox knew it needed a scapegoat for January 6th,” the complaint says. “It settled on Ray Epps and began promoting the lie that Epps was a federal agent who incited the attack on the Capitol.”

Fox News did not respond when asked for comment. But the network moved quickly to have the venue changed to Federal District Court in Wilmington, Del.

The suit is the latest legal complication for Fox News, which has been fighting lawsuits on a number of fronts related to its coverage of the 2020 election and Mr. Trump’s false insistence that he was cheated of victory. They include a $2.7 billion suit from a second voting technology company, Smartmatic, and two separate claims by Fox Corporation shareholders. Another lawsuit from a former producer for Mr. Carlson, which Fox settled on June 30 for $12 million, alleged that he condoned and encouraged a toxic workplace.

Mr. Epps is seeking an unspecified amount in damages.

But here’s where things get even crazier.

Epps now claims that the DOJ is coming after him.

Really?

Over 2 and a half years AFTER January 6th happened?!

While Epps claims he is going to be charged for January 6, no charges have come yet.

To be clear, he claims he was notified in May that he would be charged.

We are now halfway through July, and not a single charge against Epps has been filed.

Meanwhile, over a thousand people have been charged over January 6, including many grandmas who were “parading” in the capitol.

Take a look at how the folks over at MSNBC decided to cover this story:

The Ray Epps conspiracy theory — that he was an undercover FBI agent who ginned up the Jan. 6 Capitol attack — was fueled in part by the fact that he was at the Capitol that day but was never charged. However, according to Epps’ newly filed defamation lawsuit against Fox News, charges are coming.

That would obviously be an unwelcome development for Epps, but also for the dubious theory pushed by ex-Fox News host Tucker Carlson that prompted Epps’ suit. The plaintiff, a Donald Trump supporter from Arizona, claims in his filing that the Department of Justice told him in May that it planned to seek criminal charges against him, two and a half years after the Capitol attack.

So what do you think?

Do you think Ray Epps is innocent?

Or do you think there’s something to these conspiracy theories?
