In a statement given to CNN on Thursday, U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) Executive Assistant Director for Cybersecurity Eric Goldstein said the agency “is providing support to several federal agencies that have experienced intrusions.”

“We are working urgently to understand impacts and ensure timely remediation,” he added.

Per CNN:

It was not immediately clear if the hackers responsible for breaching the federal agencies were a Russian-speaking ransomware group that has claimed credit for numerous other victims in the hacking campaign.

A CISA spokesperson had no comment when CNN asked who carried out the hack of federal agencies and how many have been affected.

But the news adds to a growing tally of victims of a sprawling hacking campaign that began two weeks ago and has hit major US universities and state governments. The hacking spree mounts pressure on federal officials who have pledged to put a dent in the scourge of ransomware attacks that have hobbled schools, hospitals and local governments across the US.

Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and the university’s renowned health system said in a statement this week that “sensitive personal and financial information,” including health billing records may have been stolen in the hack.

Meanwhile, Georgia’s state-wide university system – which spans the 40,000-student University of Georgia along with over a dozen other state colleges and universities – confirmed it was investigating the “scope and severity” of the hack.

A Russian-speaking hacking group known as CLOP last week claimed credit for some of the hacks, which have also affected employees of the BBC, British Airways, oil giant Shell, and state governments in Minnesota and Illinois, among others.

In other cyber attack-related news, a group of hacker groups said they plan on conducting a wide-spread cyber attack on the European banking system.

Now, we must consider if this "global cyber attack" is predictive programming to justify a 'cyber pandemic' discussed by the World Economic Forum.

"The COVID-19 crisis would be seen as a small disturbance in comparison to a major cyber attack," WEF Chairman Klaus Schwab previously warned.

The World Economic Forum deleted Cyber Polygon from its website.

First, the teams practised containing the attack in real time, then investigated the incident, and finally, composed a dossier of the information gathered for INTERPOL to help them launch an investigation and prevent similar attacks in the future.

120 teams from 29 countries took part in the technical cybersecurity training. The live stream viewership reached 5 million, spanning across 57 nations. During this live stream, 20 prominent experts shared their views on the most pressing issues in cybersecurity and analysed the current trends and risks of technological development.

The World Economic Forum shared findings from its “Global Cybersecurity Outlook 2023” report.

What did the global elites find in the report?

“This is the result of research in collaboration with forums communities and our partner Accenture, which we’ve interviewed and sought input from over 300 executives globally,” said Jeremy Jurgens, WEF’s Managing Director & Head of the Forum’s Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

“The most striking finding that we found is that 93% of cyber leaders and 86% of cyber business leaders believe the geopolitical instability makes a catastrophic cyber event likely in the next two years.”
