Two of President Trump’s attorneys submitted their resignations, according to an ABC News report.
“This morning we tendered our resignations as counsel to President Trump, and we will no longer represent him on either the indicted case or the January 6 investigation,” Jim Trusty and John Rowley said in a joint statement.
“It has been an honor to have spent the last year defending him, and we know he will be vindicated in his battle against the Biden Administration’s partisan weaponization of the American justice system,” they added.
CBS News Chief Election & Campaign Correspondent Robert Costa shared the joint statement:

ABC News noted:
Trump, meanwhile, claimed Friday that he had removed two of his attorneys representing him in the documents probe and “will be announcing additional lawyers in the coming days.”
President Trump confirmed on Truth Social that Jim Trusty and John Rowley would no longer represent him on the case.
He said additional attorneys will be announced in the coming days.
“For purposes of fighting the Greatest Witch Hunt of all time, now moving to the Florida Courts, I will be represented by Todd Blanche, Esq., and a firm to be named later. I want to thank Jim Trusty and John Rowley for their work, but they were up against a very dishonest, corrupt, evil, and ‘sick’ group of people, the likes of which has not been seen before. We will be announcing additional lawyers in the coming days. When will Joe Biden be Indicted for his many crimes against our Nation? MAGA!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Daily Mail reports:
When he was president, there were often disputes between Trump and his aides over whether they resigned or were pushed out, and there have been suggestions Trump was angry with how they handled the case and that he was blindsided by the indictment
It was just one of the stunning turns Friday, when Trump aide and former ‘bodyman’ Walt Nauta was indicted in the same classified documents probe.
Their departure is just the latest legal shakeup involving Trump, who has continued to cycle through lawyers while facing multiple probes relating to classified documents, ‘hush’ payments to porn star Stormy Daniels, January 6, his election overturn effort in Georgia, and his business dealings in New York.
As WLTReport noted Friday, the Department of Justice indicted Trump aide Walt Nauta in the Mar-a-Lago documents case.
