JUST IN: Republican Policymaker Resigning

The GOP currently has a very narrow lead of only 5 seats in the House of Representatives. …

You don’t need me to tell you that this already isn’t very much of a lead at all—especially considering how many establishment and RINO figures vote with the Democrat Party.

Republicans have to do everything in their power, not simply to maintain a majority, but to maintain a palpable majority that can actually advance the conservative political agenda.

This iron grip on policy has, so far, evaded the GOP for several years now. …

To make matters even worse, Rep. Chris Stewart (R-UT) has announced that he will be resigning from the House of Representatives by year’s end. …

This narrows the GOP’s already slim majority in the House of Representatives to just 4 seats.

Rep. Chris Stewart issued this statement:

Stewart’s recent announcement created a lot of buzz on Twitter, here’s what everyone is saying:

According to Fox News:

Utah law states that the governor must call for a special election in the event of a House vacancy.

Once Stewart makes his resignation official, Republican Gov. Spencer Cox will have seven days to set the time for a primary and special election.

The law requires those dates to be the same as municipal primary and general elections scheduled for this year, unless the state legislature appropriates funds to hold a separate election.

One individual shared a thread of potential candidates that could take Stewart’s place in Utah:

The Salt Lake Tribune writes:

First elected by Utahns in 2012, Stewart is serving his 6th term in Congress. In 2022, he won reelection over Democrat Nick Mitchell by over 30 percentage points.

Stewart will be the second member of Utah’s Congressional delegation to resign mid-term in the past six years.

Former Rep. Jason Chaffetz gave up his seat in Congress in 2017 to become a pundit on Fox News Channel.
