Tens of thousands of illegal immigrants from Africa swarmed into a Spanish enclave this week, triggering a crisis for that country and sounding a warning call here in the U.S.
As the New York Post reported, President Donald Trump was among the high-profile American figures who cited the potential for such a migrant wave to overwhelm America’s borders:
Speaking at Camp David Friday, the president called the sudden mass migration into Ceuta a “catastrophe,” and said the harrowing footage showing the lawlessness breaking out at the Moroccan border “looks like an invasion.”
No sooner had the migrants breached the border than some started bathing in city fountains and using city streets as their own personal toilets.

His remarks, along with the broader Ceuta crisis, sparked significant social media discussion:

KOMO added these details:
At least 34 migrants have died in the process. The situation at the border comes as security forces clash with migrants on the Moroccan side of the border.
Spain’s interior ministry released its own numbers after Vivas’ address, estimating that some 50,000 people had crossed since Thursday. It added that half had already returned to Morocco.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez condemned the breach on Friday, calling the events “a violation of Spain’s territorial integrity.”
