The corruption in California seems to have no end.
Just weeks after being appointed as the Sausalito, California City Manager, Elaine Forbes has been arrested.
Forbes was arrested on Saturday while she was on a yacht that she didn’t own or was authorized to be on.
The New York Post reported more on Elaine Forbes’ arrest and what charges she faces:
Sausalito’s new city manager was arrested early Saturday on suspicion of felony burglary after Marin County sheriff’s deputies responding to a noise complaint found her aboard a yacht that authorities say belonged to someone else.
Elaine Forbes told deputies she was having “a bad morning” and insisted they leave what she claimed was her boat, the Marin Independent Journal reported.
The arrest came two days after the Sausalito City Council placed her on administrative leave following a closed-session meeting.
Deputies responded to the Sausalito Yacht Harbor shortly before 7 a.m. Saturday, where they said Forbes was found aboard a vessel she did not have permission to board.
According to the Marin County Sheriff’s Office, Forbes initially told deputies the yacht belonged to her. Investigators later contacted the vessel’s owner, who said Forbes was not authorized to be aboard.
Forbes was booked into the Marin County Jail on suspicion of felony burglary.

ABC 7 News provided a statement from both the city of Sausalito and Forbes’ public relations team:
Forbes previously worked for nine years as the executive director at the Port of San Francisco.
Her arrest comes two days after the Sausalito City Council decided to place her on administrative leave without giving any details.
ADVERTISEMENTIn a statement, the City of Sausalito said: “This is a difficult development for our City staff and our community. Because this is now an active and ongoing investigation by the Marin County Sheriff’s Office, the City will not comment on the specific allegations.”
On behalf of Elaine Forbes and her family, Sam Singer Public Relations released a statement writing:
“Elaine Forbes has devoted much of her life to public service and is widely respected by the many people who have worked with her over the years.
We ask that no one rush to judgment based on limited information. Elaine is experiencing a mental health crisis. As the facts become clearer and Elaine obtains legal and healthcare counsel in the coming hours and days, we hope people will respond with compassion, patience and respect for her and her family during an extraordinarily difficult time. Thank you.”
As the city manager, Forbes was expected to earn a $275,000 salary.
Now she will have to use her first week paycheck on a $50,000 bond.
