He’s already run a trainwreck campaign littered with allegations of everything from Nazi-linked tattoos to all sorts of sleazy behavior online.
But the latest allegations surfacing against far-left US Senate candidate Graham Platner could be enough to take him out of contention entirely.
Shortly after a report detailed claims of sexual assault from an alleged ex-girlfriend, Platner addressed the latest scandal, per The Hill:
Maine Senate Democratic candidate Graham Platner on Monday said that “we are taking the time to reflect on the best path forward,” just minutes after Politico published a story in which a woman who previously dated the oyster farmer alleged he had sexually assaulted her.
ADVERTISEMENT“I wanted to directly address the troubling, serious and false allegations against me. Any accusation of non-consensual behavior is categorically false,” Platner said in the two-minute video posted online.
Politico earlier on Monday reported that a woman Platner previously dated, Jenny Racicot, told the news outlet that Platner had forced her to have sex with him while he was intoxicated in 2021.
The development sparked immediate social media interest:

Seriously this is your curated response? There is an old saying, "if you walk around and smell shit everywhere you go you should check the bottom of your boot.". Is there a hashtag for shitbird liar ? asking for a friend.

Here’s more from NBC News:
In the video statement, Platner seemed to indicate his candidacy was in question saying that “regardless of the inaccuracy of the reporting,” he was “mindful of the political reality it will inflict, we are taking the time to reflect on the best path forward for the state that I love, the people that I love, the movement I belong to, and the goal of defeating Susan Collins.”
ADVERTISEMENTThe campaign released a similar statement.
“These allegations are very serious and Graham vigorously denies them. They are also coached and coordinated by out of state establishment operatives,” the campaign’s statement read.
NBC News did not independently verify the report and through a representative, Racicot did not comment.
