The Great American State Fair Gets POSTPONED Again, Here’s Why


For the second straight day, the Great American State Fair has been postponed.

As WLT Report previously reported the Great American State Fair being held on the National Mall was temporarily closed on Friday due to extreme heat.

Now with hours before fireworks are set to go off, evacuations have been ordered for those attending the Great American State Fair.

DC News Now had the latest update:

A bout of severe weather led to the Great American State Fair being evacuated and postponed on the Fourth of July.

Signage posted outside of fair grounds reads, “The Great American State Fair Event Delayed due to severe weather. The event is postponed until [the]weather passes. Go to Freedom250 social media for more updates and reopening times. Please proceed to the nearest exit.”

DC News Now crews at the scene reported being evacuated around 7 p.m., minutes before the Salute to America programming was set to begin.

DC Homeland Security & Emergency Management provided a list of evacuation shelters near the National Mall.
