I know what you’re wondering, and no, unfortunately, Jimmy Kimmel is not leaving television for good.
But, he is taking a two-month vacation off this summer. (Fun fact: that’s almost as much as Congress gets!)
In his stead, a lineup of guest hosts will be taking over.
Among those will be Rosie O’Donnell, whom Jimmy Kimmel says he personally invited as a “special treat” for President Trump.

As you probably know, Rosie O’Donnell isn’t a fan of President Trump, and he isn’t a fan of her!
She even left the country to live in Ireland due to her severe case of TDS.

O’Donnell is one several celebrities who left the states following Donald Trump’s second election win. Along with her youngest child, Clay, 13, they settled down in Ireland.
“The View” alum and Trump have long had beef between each other. Though, it appears their feud reached its peak in July 2025 when the president threatened to take away the actress’s US citizenship.
“Because of the fact that Rosie O’Donnell is not in the best interests of our Great Country, I am giving serious consideration to taking away her Citizenship,” he wrote in his Truth Social post at the time.
He continued: “She is a Threat to Humanity, and should remain in the wonderful Country of Ireland, if they want her. GOD BLESS AMERICA.”
O’Donnell hit back at Trump with an equally heated Instagram post.

Since her citizenship appears to remain intact, it looks like O’Donnell will be returning to the US for an extended stay.

A representative for O’Donnell tells EW that the comedian will host Jimmy Kimmel Live for one week of episodes beginning on Monday, August 17.
I guess now we know why Rosie recently got work done — she’s preparing for her return to TV.

All I can say is, hopefully Kimmel’s hit at President Trump doesn’t backfire tremendously…
I’m not sure how the ratings can actually go down from Kimmel, but choosing Rosie O’Donnell will definitely do the trick!
