President Trump Congratulates GOP Candidate for Leading CA Gubernatorial Primary

Will California get a Republican governor this November?

Last night’s primary results indicate that it is very possible.

The contest to succeed Gov. Gavin Newsom is tight, but, as I write this, Trump-endorsed Republican candidate Steve Hilton is leading the race.

President Trump just issued a statement on Truth Social congratulating Hilton for placing first and pledging to help him turn around California if he wins in November.

Congratulations to Steve Hilton on coming in first, last night, in the California Vote for Governor. If Californians are smart, which I know they are, they will put Steve into the Governor’s Mansion, and watch their State get better at a rate that has probably never been seen before. I know Steve — He is a hard driving WINNER, and he will turn California around, quickly — and the Federal Government will be there, with him, to help! President DONALD J. TRUMP

Currently, a little over half of the vote is in for the California gubernatorial primary.

Steve Hilton is in first, with 27.8% of the vote.

Here’s the latest election results:

The New York Post dove deeper into the results, so far:

Hilton, a former Fox News host, entered election night as the candidate with the clearest path to blowing up Democrat’s political grip on deep-blue California, and the early returns — 78.5% of precincts across the state had partially reported by late Tuesday — suggest Golden State voters may be open to his message.

Hilton had 26.9% of the vote with nearly 1.2 million votes tallied, while Becerra — a former Biden administration health secretary — followed with 25.7%. Progressive billionaire Tom Steyer trailed in third with 19.8%, while Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco remained well behind in fourth with 11.2%.

Before joining his election night party, Hilton told The Post in an exclusive interview that “change is coming” for California.

“I think this state is ready for change, and tonight’s results show that I think that we’re not taking anything for granted,” he said.

Once the race is called, the top two winners will advance to a runoff election in November.

NBC Los Angeles shared some remarks from Hilton:

Steve Hilton was leading the primary race for governor Wednesday in a contest that will see the top two finishers advance to a November runoff.

Hilton spoke Wednesday morning about the race.

“I think they got a little bit arrogant,” Hilton said of Democrat politicians. “I think they’re in for a big shock. The people of California are not happy with the way things are going in this state.”

Steve Hilton also responded to President Trump’s congratulatory statement on X:

Let’s hope for the best!

However, it’s already looking like California may be trying to cheat this thing.

It’s taking forever to count the ballots.

And, last night, NBC News casually admitted that a “flood of ballots coming in the wee hours of the morning” would be needed for the second and third place Democrats to beat Steve Hilton.

Watch this:

NBC News also flat-out stated that mail-in ballots “arriving up to a week later or longer” could topple Hilton’s bid.

Watch:

So, it may be awhile until we know for sure whether or not Hilton will be advancing to November’s runoff.

Will California elect a Republican governor to start fixing the critical problems in the state?

Should we be concerned about cheating?
