More Than Half Of Votes Are Counted In LA Mayoral Race, Here’s How Spencer Pratt Is Doing So Far

Over 63% of votes have been counted in the Los Angeles mayoral race, and so far, only one candidate has advanced to the run-off.

In Los Angeles, a candidate must receive more than 50% of the vote to win.

So far, no candidate has reached that threshold, setting the stage for a runoff election.

Current Democrat mayor Karen Bass has already secured a spot in the future run-off after securing 34% of the vote.

In a close second is Independent Spencer Pratt at 30.4%, and in third place is Progressive Nithya Raman at 22.3%.

ABC 7 News reported more on the election results so far:

The first results of the Los Angeles mayoral race are in, as polls closed at 8 p.m. With over 60% of the expected vote counted, incumbent L.A. Mayor Karen Bass is leading the pack at 35%, followed by Spencer Pratt at 30% and Nithya Raman at 22%.

ABC News projects that Bass will advance to a runoff in November. ABC News has not yet projected who Bass’ opponent will be in the November election.

Mayor Bass is seeking a second term as she faces several challengers in a closely contested Los Angeles mayoral race.

Voters had 14 candidates to choose from, including Raman and Pratt, and many have focused on a variety of issues impacting L.A., including recovery from the devastating 2025 wildfires, homelessness, ICE operations and more.

Spencer Pratt appears all but poised to face off against Mayor Karen Bass in the November runoff election for Los Angeles mayor. Eyewitness News was there as Pratt addressed the media on Tuesday night.

While the primary is nonpartisan, Bass has served Congress as a Democrat, Raman is a self-described Democrat, and Pratt is a registered Republican.

Of the 10 Los Angeles mayors to have sought a second term since the office’s term became four years in 1925, only two have been denied second terms — John C. Porter in 1929 and James Hahn in 2005.

KTLA 5 reported how Pratt is reacting so far to the current results:

“I literally could not be more excited,” Pratt said as the results were coming in Tuesday night. “I got in this because as a citizen I felt like my city failed myself, my neighbors, my family.”

He went on to criticize Bass’ performance as mayor, adding that he would be willing to debate her multiple times in the coming months.

“Mayor Bass has allowed the city to become covered in potholes,” Pratt said. “Then there’s the moms who want to be able to go to the parks and not see anybody shooting up fentanyl with their pants off.”

Raman, who could still theoretically catch up to Bass and Pratt, was moved to tears while thanking her supporters at a watch party in downtown Los Angeles Wednesday night.
