Unfortunately, instances of far-left extremists openly encouraging the assassination of the president only seem to be getting more frequent.
Even worse, far too many of those making such objectionable comments are employed as caretakers of some sort, such as educators and nurses.
A recent example from the latter category came from one of the nation’s most prestigious medical centers, Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles. After reports surfaced that one of the hospital’s nurses expressed disappointment that none of the attempts on President Donald Trump’s life have yet succeeded, a wave of online condemnation ensued that ultimately pressured Cedars-Sinai to respond.
Fox News provided this report:
Matthew Shaffer, who is identified as a nurse practitioner on the website for Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, reportedly responded to a social media post about the April 25 correspondents’ dinner shooting in which user Jason Cosler wrote, “Someone missed again? Who is hiring these people,” and Shaffer responded, “Up your game, people.”
A spokesperson for Cedars-Sinai told Fox News Digital in a statement that, “Social media postings of individual staff members do not reflect the views or positions of Cedars-Sinai.”
Shaffer’s LinkedIn page lists him as working as a full-time nurse practitioner at Cedars-Sinai Medical Group since March.
Here’s a sampling of the social media flak Shaffer received:
@CedarsSinai It’s disturbing that a nurse on your staff, Matthew Shaffer, continues to be employed after advocating for the assassination of our president. The fact that he identifies himself as an employee at your hospital should be grounds for firing. Why should anyone trust u?

@CedarsSinai has a Nurse Practitioner on staff openly advocating online for the murder of the President.
Matthew Shaffer needs to have their employment terminated immediately.
We cannot have medical personnel overseeing patient care while desiring the violent death of people…

@CedarsSinai are you going to fire Matthew Schafer? He is condoning murder. Keeping him as an employee must open you up to liability, right?

It was unclear from available reports what actions, if any, Cedars-Sinai has taken against the employee.
A nurse in New Jersey, on the other hand, claimed last year that she was unfairly suspended after she called out a surgeon at the same facility who celebrated the assassination of Charlie Kirk:
Here’s what the New York Post reported at the time:
Lexi Kuenzle, a nurse at Englewood Health, filed a lawsuit Friday in Bergen County Superior Court against the hospital, Dr. Matthew Jung and others claiming she was wrongly suspended without pay for calling out the doctor’s vile act on her personal Instagram account.
“[Kuenzle] had the audacity to question how Dr. Jung can comply with the Hippocratic Oath’s and the American Medical Association’s Code of Medical Ethics while celebrating the murder of a non-violent Christian speaker who was on a college campus,” the suit says.
Kuenzle was in front of a nurses’ station with eight other nurses, and a patient in a stretcher, when the news of Kirk’s death broke.
“Oh, my God! That’s terrible! I love him!” Kuenzle said, before Jung shot back.
“I hate Charlie Kirk. He had it coming. He deserved it,” the bariatric surgeon allegedly said.
