For as much as the left seeks to denounce conservatives as a group of conspiracy theorists, every new assassination attempt on President Donald Trump only sends his detractors further down their own rabbit holes.
After Saturday’s shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, several prominent leftists advanced the theory that it might’ve been faked by the Trump administration.
Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX), one of Capitol Hill’s most virulent Trump critics, was proudly a part of that camp, as Fox News reported:
Crockett, who lost in the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate this year, has made multiple posts about the shooting since it happened, with some condemning political violence and others questioning whether assassination attempts against Trump were staged.
ADVERTISEMENTOn her official X and Threads accounts, she said, “The political violence is unacceptable and must stop.”
“I am grateful that everyone attending tonight’s WHCD is safe,” the congresswoman added.
But on her Jasmine For US campaign Threads account, she posted, “Has there ever been a president have this many close ‘attempts’ on their life?”
“Maybe it’s lax gun laws, maybe it’s lack of mental health funding, or maybe it’s fake… who knows,” the post continued.
Hers was just one of several posts suggesting the entire incident could’ve been a hoax:
His approval ratings are so bad that he staged another assassination attempt to get out of the White House correspondents’ dinner.

Here’s how Fox News handled one on-air guest who began to venture down this trail:
Fox News turned off its correspondent's microphone after he hinted at a staged shooting

And of course there’s a direct link to “The View”:
Ana Navarro says people think the shooting was staged ‘because Trump lies.’
Keep in mind she does nothing but lie on CNN, The View, etc…

Crockett has been playing fast and loose with the facts when it comes to Trump throughout her time on Capitol Hill, though, and even CNN called her out on it during an appearance on the network last year.
Here’s what the New York Post reported at the time:
“The fact that Trump does not want these files to be out to me says he has more to hide than him actually being able to exonerate himself,” Crockett said on “The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer” Thursday.
However CNN anchor Pamela Brown then produced the email, and pointed out that Giuffre, who died by suicide in April, wrote in her posthumously published memoir that Trump had no hand in the disgraced financier’s wrongdoing.
“Yeah, I don’t know. Obviously it’s redacted who the victim is, so I won’t necessarily take the Republican word on who it is that’s redacted,” Crockett said with a self-righteous laugh.
“And I don’t know why they would necessarily redact someone’s name who is deceased at this point.”
Brown quickly corrected the far-left rep, reminding her, “the Democrats did that, though.”
A visibly rattled Crockett stammered through an attempt to walk back her false assertion and quickly changed the subject.
“The Democrats were — no, no, I understand. But just saying, like, our biggest concern is to actually make sure we are protecting victims. And obviously, she wrote a book, she told her truth.”
