Secretary of War Pete Hegseth explained the interesting timing of events regarding the rescue mission of an F-16E airman who was shot down in Iran.

Hegseth, during a White House press briefing, shared an outline of the rescue mission involving special forces rescuing an F-16E airman who was stranded in Iran over 24 hours after ejecting from his fighter jet after being shot.

Hegseth shared that the airman went down on Good Friday, hid in a crevice in a mountain on Saturday, and on Easter morning, he was rescued and “reborn”.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth highlighted timeline similarities between the recent rescue of a downed American pilot in Iran and the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

At a White House press conference Monday afternoon featuring President Donald Trump and other administration officials, Hegseth discussed the recent rescue of two pilots during the conflict.

Hegseth described how one of the two pilots, while wounded, traveled through the mountains and was rescued by a large American force behind enemy lines over the course of three days on Easter weekend.

“Shot down on a Friday, Good Friday,” said Hegseth. “Hidden in a cave, a crevice, all of Saturday. And rescued on Sunday. Flown out of Iran as the sun was rising on Easter Sunday.”

“A pilot reborn, all home and accounted for, a nation rejoicing. God is good. … We leave no man behind, and that is not luck. It is the result of unmatched training, superior technology, and unbreakable warrior ethos, and sheer American grit.”

Hegseth highlighted how the pilot’s first message to rescuers with his emergency transponder was “God is good,” stating that “in that moment of isolation and danger, his faith and fighting spirit shown through.”

Fox News reported Iran lost four officers at the hands of the U.S. as the rescue mission took place:

Iran said it lost four army officers who were killed while engaging U.S. forces who were trying to rescue a downed American Air Force pilot.

“In the early hours of Sunday, these army officers engaged in direct combat with enemy fighter jets, helicopters, armed drones, and support aircraft in the Mahyar area of Isfahan, opening fire at the aerial targets. After a shoulder-fired missile struck one of the attacking aircraft, they were targeted by other enemy aircraft and killed,” its army said in a statement.

The officers were identified as Brigadier General Masoud Zare, Colonel Moein Heidari, Colonel Seyyed Saeid Mousavi, and Lieutenant Milad Salarvand, London-based Iran International reported.
