With the ousting of Pam Bondi, a major shakeup is taking place at the Department of Justice.
Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche has been named as Acting Attorney General, at least for the time being.
But, it’s possible that he could be appointed to serve in the role permanently.
If that happens, then the question arises: who will become No. 2 at the DOJ?
Well, according to a new report from CBS, that job could go to Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Harmeet Dhillon.

CBS News claims that the Trump administration is considering giving Dhillon a big promotion.
Reportedly, they are also thinking about demoting No. 3 at the DOJ — Associate Attorney General Stanley Woodward.
Here’s more from that CBS News report:
President Trump is likely to make leadership changes involving two more top roles at the Justice Department, sources told CBS News on Saturday.
The changes are most likely to affect Associate Attorney General Stanley Woodward, the No. 3 official at the Justice Department and Harmeet Dhillon, the Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division.
Senior officials have discussed promoting Dhillon to one of the top department roles, while demoting Woodward, the sources added. It was unclear if final decisions had been made yet.
The discussions of a possible promotion for Dhillon come shortly after Mr. Trump ousted Attorney General Pam Bondi earlier this week, after frustrations that she had not aggressively pursued criminal charges against his political enemies.

Notably, after Bondi was fired, Dhillon put out a statement hinting at a potential change in position for herself, as well.
In a post on X, she said that she will “continue to serve in whatever role the President deems most appropriate for me” and told us to “Stay tuned.”

When Pam Bondi, Elon Musk, and President Trump called me together from Mar-a-Lago in November, 2024 after the election, and asked if I were willing to leave private practice and nonprofit CEO roles to serve in the DOJ, I didn’t hesitate. I respected Pam a LOT, and was Team Trump since 2016. Senate confirmation is no joke and going through it as a new widow and having lost my father weeks before the election was tough, but worth it, and I’m so grateful for a large and loving base of friends and family and fans who had my back.
It has been an incredible honor to serve under @AGPamBondi at the DOJ. She is the epitome of grace, class, patriotism, and integrity. She has been a dear friend and worthy of respect and loyalty. She served our country faithfully and well. I will miss her at the DOJ, and wish her the very best.
I’ve worked well with @DAGToddBlanche since I was sworn in a year ago, and told him and the President yesterday I look forward to supporting his transition to Acting AG. It is the privilege of my lifetime to serve my country at the DOJ, and I will continue to serve in whatever role the President deems most appropriate for me. Stay tuned — great things ahead at the DOJ!
It’s easy to see why Harmeet Dhillon may be up for a promotion.
During her time as Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights, Harmeet Dhillon has consistently delivered on important matters like election integrity, suing states who refuse to hand over voter rolls for auditing.
She has also spearheaded efforts to protect women in sports and cracked down on DEI at universities.
DC_Draino is vouching for Dhillon to become the next Attorney General:

Harmeet Dhillon was 1 of the only lawyers in the country who fought against Covid lockdowns and vaccine mandates during the Covid hysteria and WON.
She is battle tested, has fought for conservative values and constitutional rights when it was most difficult, and has a track record of winning in deep blue California courts.
Now as AAG, she has almost singlehandedly taken out DEI policies in academia and corporate America with her DOJ lawsuits, and she’s aggressively cleaning up voter rolls nationwide.
She would make an incredible AG.
What do you think?
Would you support promoting Harmeet Dhillon to a higher level in the DOJ?
Who do you want to see appointed as Attorney General?
As for me, I’m good with whoever has the guts to finally bring us some major prosecutions…
