US President Donald Trump has reportedly considered firing Attorney General Pam Bondi in private. The conversations are happening behind closed doors and, for now, remain just that–discussions, not a confirmed decision.

The reported talks point to growing frustration within Donald Trump’s circle, particularly over how certain high-profile issues have been handled. Pam Bondi continues to publicly appear alongside Trump. But CNN sources claim the president has been asking people around him whether a change at the Justice Department might be necessary.

Much of the tension ties back to the backlash over the administration’s handling of matters related to Jeffrey Epstein. Bondi is also expected to sit for a deposition on Capitol Hill later this month as part of an ongoing congressional investigation, adding further pressure. At the same time, sources told the outlet that Trump has been unhappy with what he sees as a lack of aggressive action against his political opponents.

Still, he has not publicly broken with Bondi. Trump told CNN, “Attorney General Pam Bondi is a wonderful person, and she is doing a good job.” Behind the scenes, however, the idea of replacing her has come up more than once.

So, who is expected to take Bondi’s place?

Just The News reported EPA administrator Lee Zeldin might replace Bondi:

President Trump is considering firing Attorney General Pam Bondi and replacing her with EPA administrator Lee Zeldin, according to reports.

An unnamed source told POLITICO that when Trump met Zeldin on Tuesday to discuss last year’s California wildfires, he also discussed potentially tapping him for the attorney general role. Another anonymous source told the outlet that Bondi will be fired imminently.

Trump has asked people about replacing Bondi, who has a deposition later this month related to the congressional investigation into the late sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, unnamed sources told CNN. He has also been frustrated that Bondi hasn’t investigated enough of his political opponents.

However, it is unclear if Trump has made up his mind, sources told the media outlet.
