On Thursday morning, a gunman opened fire inside an academic building at Old Dominion University in Virginia.
Authorities reported two people have been injured, and the shooter has been neutralized:

Two people are injured and a gunman is dead after a shooting inside an academic building at Old Dominion University in Virginia Thursday morning, according to the school.
The shooting happened shortly before 10:50 a.m. at the school’s Constant Hall on the Norfolk campus, the university said in an online alert.
The two people injured were transported to a local hospital, according to the school. No information was provided about their condition.
University police, Norfolk police and emergency personnel responded immediately to the incident, the university said. ATF special agents have also responded, the federal agency told CNN Thursday morning.

WAVY interviewed a student who was present at ODU when the shooting took place:
ODU sophomore Logan Hayes was in Constant Hall taking a test when the active shooter situation started. He said the fire alarm went off and he ran out of the building.
ADVERTISEMENTAs soon as he got outside, Logan told WAVY, “I heard about a multitude of gunshots go off and people just screaming.”
He added the police response was immediate and that they assured students were somewhere safe.
