President Trump is sending in federal authorities to take over recovery efforts at the Potomac River, where a severe ecological crisis is happening.
Last month, hundreds of millions of gallons of sewage spilled into the river, which runs through our capital city of Washington, D.C.
The Democrat leadership has failed to quell the situation, and so President Trump says he has no option but to have the federal government step in.
Here are the details:

JUST IN: President Trump says the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT is taking over recovery efforts after Democrat-led DC and Maryland allowed over 1 BILLION gallons of raw sewage into the Potomac River, running through DC
There’s been practically NO OUTRAGE from the environmentalists, despite this being one of the largest raw sewage spills in U.S. history, endangering millions of people and animals.
Democrats defunded FEMA, so there are now limited resources they can respond with, but they’re going to give it what they have.
Despicable.
Of course, this comes at a time when Democrats have effectively shut down FEMA by refusing to fund the DHS, so federal resources will be limited.
Read President Trump’s full statement on Truth Social here:
There is a massive Ecological Disaster unfolding in the Potomac River as a result of the Gross Mismanagement of Local Democrat Leaders, particularly, Governor Wes Moore, of Maryland. A sewer line breach in Maryland has caused millions of gallons of raw sewage to be dumped directly into the Potomac River, a result of incompetent Local and State Management of Essential Waste Management Systems. This is the same Governor who cannot rebuild a Bridge. It is clear Local Authorities cannot adequately handle this calamity. Therefore, I am directing Federal Authorities to immediately provide all necessary Management, Direction, and Coordination to protect the Potomac, the Water Supply in the Capital Region, and our treasured National Resources in our Nation’s Capital City. While State and Local Authorities have failed to request needed Emergency Help, I cannot allow incompetent Local “Leadership” to turn the River in the Heart of Washington into a Disaster Zone. As we saw in the Palisades, the Democrat War on Merit has real consequences. The Federal Government has no choice, but to step in. FEMA, which is currently being defunded by the Democrats, will play a key role in coordinating the response. Thank you for your attention to this matter! PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP
The sewer line broke nearly a month ago, and experts say it is one of the largest sewage spills to happen in the entire history of the United States.
Yet, Democrats are being suspiciously quiet about it.
Reuters reported:
On January 19, a sewer line in Montgomery County, Maryland, collapsed, causing an overflow of more than 200 million gallons of wastewater into the Potomac River.
The University of Maryland has called, opens new tab it one of the largest sewage spills in U.S. history and its researchers have detected high levels of fecal-related bacteria and disease-causing pathogens in the river, raising urgent public health concerns and underscoring the risks posed by aging sewer infrastructure.
Here are some photos from the area:
The failure in a section of a 72-inch sewer pipe in MD, has release of close to a billion gallons of raw sewage into the Potomac river just inside the Beltway
It’s now considered the LARGEST spill of wastewater in U.S. history

It goes without saying that this disaster poses serious health risks to the people and animals living near the Potomac River.
E. coli levels at some places in the river are currently thousands of times higher than acceptable EPA standards, and folks are advised to keep away from it.
The Hill has more details on the effects:
DC Water said as of Feb. 5 that since the first of the month — with the exception of one day at Fletcher’s Boathouse in northwest D.C. — E. coli concentrations at “all downstream sampling locations” were within the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) acceptable range for recreational activities.
From Feb. 5-12, E. coli concentrations decreased at five of the six sites DC Water has monitored, with the exception being near the drainage channel at the overflow site, close to Swainson Island, according to DC Water.
However, researchers from the University of Maryland — in partnership with the PRKN — found that water samples from where sewage entered the Potomac were more than 10,000 times above EPA standards on Jan. 21 and more than 2,500 times above EPA standards on Jan. 28. On Jan, 28, water from a site 10 miles downstream from the overflow tested 1.5 times above the E. coli concentration standard.
“DC Water is responsible for responding to the Potomac Interceptor collapse, and there is currently no impact to drinking water systems. EPA inspectors are visiting the site every week to perform compliance monitoring, and EPA will continue to coordinate with DC Water to ensure their efforts are sufficient,” an EPA spokesperson said in a statement to The Hill.
The DOEE and the Virginia Department of Health have maintained that there is no evidence the spillage has impacted drinking water quality. DC drinking water, DOEE noted, flows through a separate system.
Both agencies say, though, to avoid contact with the Potomac. That includes fishing, tubing, white-water canoeing or kayaking. They also say to avoid letting pets contact the river.
Geez. Where are all these liberal environmental activists when you actually need them?!
Nowhere to be seen.
Leave it to President Trump to clean up yet another Democrat mess — even on President’s Day!
Democrats break it. Trump fixes it. Same story every time.
