Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent absolutely demolished Democrat Sen. Elizabeth Warren while testifying on Capitol Hill today.
First, he flipped her own question back around on her.
Warren asked about President Trump calling the “affordability crisis” a Democrat “hoax.”
Bessent coolly explained that what President Trump means is that Democrats are lying about his administration making prices go up.
In reality, it was Democrats like Warren “and President Biden who destroyed the buying power of the American people.”

Warren also asked Bessent about a joke that President Trump made about his new Federal Reserve Chair nominee, Kevin Warsh.
Over the weekend, President Trump joked that he might have to sue Warsh if he doesn’t cut interest rates.
Apparently, Warren took that literally and brought it up with Bessent.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, the top Democrat on the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee, questioned Bessent about a joke Trump made over the weekend about suing Warsh if he does not reduce rates to the president’s liking, according to The Wall Street Journal.
ADVERTISEMENT“I think it was a joke, but just in case, this should be an easy one, Mr. Secretary: can you commit right here and now that Trump’s Fed nominee Kevin Warsh will not be sued, will not be investigated by the Department of Justice if he doesn’t cut interest rates exactly the way that Donald Trump wants?” Warren asked.
“That is up to the president,” Bessent said, as the questioning devolved into cross talk.
U.S. presidents typically leave interest rate decisions up to the Fed, with a metaphorical firewall between the independent board and the White House.
However, Bessent’s response was just hilarious!
He pointed out how President Trump jokes about a lot of things — including Elizabeth ‘Pocahontas’ Warren!

In another moment during his testimony, Bessent was asked by Warren about his former opinion on tariffs leading to higher inflation.
He pointed out that his track record on predictions isn’t always correct, since he also thought Warren would be the Democrat presidential nominee!
