Anthony Kazmierczak, 55, faces a count alleging that he “forcibly assaulted, opposed, impeded, intimidated an officer and employee of the United States” while engaged in official duties.
The liquid he squirted at Omar was allegedly a mixture of water and apple cider vinegar.

More from the Associated Press:
After Kazmierczak sprayed Omar with the liquid, he appeared to say, “She’s not resigning. You’re splitting Minnesotans apart,” the affidavit says. Authorities also say that Kazmierczak told a close associate several years ago that “somebody should kill” Omar, court documents say.
It was unclear if Kazmierczak had an attorney who could comment on the allegations. A message was left with the federal defender’s office in Minnesota.

The Hill shared further:
Following Tuesday’s attack, Omar continued with the town hall, and her office reported in a statement posted on the social platform X on Tuesday evening that the congresswoman was “okay.”
“She continued with her town hall because she doesn’t let bullies win,” the statement said.
Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) condemned the attack in a Tuesday post on X.
ADVERTISEMENT“Our state has been shattered by political violence in the last year,” Walz wrote. “The cruel, inflammatory, dehumanizing rhetoric by our nation’s leaders needs to stop immediately.”
A day after the town hall, President Trump accused Omar of orchestrating the attack, telling ABC News, “She probably had herself sprayed, knowing her.” However, Trump acknowledged that he hadn’t seen the video clip of the attack.
Thursday’s update from the DOJ follows the FBI’s announcement a day prior that it would be taking charge “to maintain the integrity of the investigation.”
