President Trump just shut down fake news claims that DHS Secretary Kristi Noem might be stepping down.
Prior to heading off to Iowa for a speaking event today, President Trump was asked if Noem will resign.
Without missing a beat, President Trump bluntly denied that possibility.

President Trump went on to put his full support behind Kristi Noem and the work the Department of Homeland Security is doing to deport illegal immigrants.
“Why would I be unhappy?” he asked, calling Kristi Noem, “a star, and I’m very happy with her performance.”

BREAKING: President Trump just DOUBLED DOWN on his support for Kristi Noem, DHS, and mass deportations
“Kristi is doing a GREAT job. She’s fantastic. We’ve stopped the illegal border crossings – the numbers are the lowest they’ve been in DECADES!”
“She’s tough on immigration, built parts of the wall, and she’s getting results. Why would I be unhappy? She’s a STAR, and I’m very happy with her performance. We’ve had some very sad situations in Minnesota, but she’s handling it well.”
After the Minneapolis shooting on Saturday, Kristi Noem has faced calls to resign — mostly from Democrats.
Sen. John Fetterman is one Democrat who is asking her to step down.
Fox News provided more context:
His statement comes as Noem is facing widespread criticism after federal agents killed two U.S. citizens in Minnesota this month.
Sen. John Fetterman, D-Penn., called on Trump to fire her directly on Tuesday. In a post on X, the senator accused Noem of “betraying” the department’s central mission.
“I make a direct appeal to immediately fire Sec. Noem,” Fetterman wrote.
“Americans have died. She is betraying DHS’s core mission and trashing your border security legacy. DO NOT make the mistake President Biden made for not firing a grossly incompetent DHS Secretary,” he said.
Unlike other Democratic senators, Fetterman typically takes a more pragmatic stance toward Trump and the broader GOP on issues including immigration and border security. In recent weeks, Fetterman had encouraged his party to avoid calls to abolish U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Of course, it won’t be happening…
Sorry Democrats, Kristi Noem is here to stay!
Yesterday, President Trump personally met with Kristi Noem to discuss immigration strategy.
The New York Times has more:
President Trump met Monday evening in the Oval Office with Kristi Noem, the homeland security secretary, and Corey Lewandowski, her top aide, for nearly two hours, as his administration tries to shift its strategy after federal agents killed a second Minneapolis resident over the weekend, according to two people briefed on the meeting.
The meeting came after Ms. Noem requested to see the president, the people said, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss a private meeting.
Mr. Trump did not suggest during the meeting that either Ms. Noem’s or Mr. Lewandowski’s jobs were at risk, the people said. But it was the latest sign the president is concerned about the bipartisan criticism of the administration’s response to the killing of Alex Pretti, who was shot at roughly 10 times by immigration agents on Saturday after he was apparently filming them with his phone camera.
