Absolutely tragic.

Umurzokov was from Uzbekistan.

He is remembered for his intelligence and kindness.

CNN has more:

MukhammadAziz Umurzokov is one of the two students killed at Brown University after a shooter opened fire Saturday afternoon, according to a GoFundMe organized by his family and a spokesperson for Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister.

A family member described Umurzokov as “incredibly kind, funny and smart,” in the fundraiser verified by GoFundMe.

“He had big dreams of becoming a neurosurgeon and helping people. He continues to be my family’s biggest role model in all aspects,” the GoFundMe said. “He always lent a helping hand to anyone in need without hesitation, and was the most kind-hearted person our family knew.”

Freshman Khimari Manns told CNN affiliate WBZ that he was a roommate of Umurzokov at the university.

“He was kind. He reached out to me as soon as we got roommate assignments. Most importantly, he was just present. Whatever you asked him to do, he was always there for you,” Manns told WBZ. “What I do know is that Brown is grieving. I am grieving. The loss of him will be felt throughout this community. His soul truly did reverberate throughout the community.”

The spokesperson for Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister and the US ambassador to Uzbekistan, Jonathan Henick, extended their condolences to Umurzokov’s family and loved ones.

“The loss of innocent lives as a result of this tragedy is a great loss for all of us,” the statement read from the foreign minister’s spokesperson.

Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin offered his prayers for the victims, including Umurzokov, who he said attended Midlothian High School in the commonwealth.

Rest in Peace, young man.

The other student killed in the horrific shooting was identified on Sunday as 19-year-old conservative Christian Ella Cook.
