This is a developing story.

A U.S fighter jet reportedly crashed in San Bernardino, California.

The video of the crash was captured by a resident in the area and later uploaded on X.

ABC 7 News reported more on the crash:

Firefighters in San Bernardino County are responding to reports of a crash near China Lake that may have involved an F-16 fighter aircraft.

The incident reportedly happened near Trona Airport, close to the San Bernardino/Inyo county line.

Details are limited, but the San Bernardino County Fire Department told Eyewitness News that the pilot is with the fire department and suffered moderate injuries.

The incident was reported around 11:09am PT (2:09pm ET) near Trona Airport, close to the San Bernardino/Inyo county line, which serves as a gateway to the park, though it is about a 105-mile drive to the park’s entrance.

Reports stated the F-16C Fighting Falcon was part of the Air Force’s Air Demonstration Squadron, also known as the Thunderbirds.

This group is a precision aerobatic flight team that performs at airshows to showcase American air power and recruit for the military branch.

Details about the accident are limited, but reports said the pilot successfully ejected but may have suffered minor injuries.

The individual is believed to have been transported to a local hospital in Ridgecrest.

Footage captured of the scene showed the pilot ejecting from the falling craft and deploying the parachute, allowing him to coast away from the jet.

The jet, however, crashed into the dusty landscape, exploding into a massive fireball and black smoke.
