The 2026 midterms have now become even more consequential for Republicans.
During the first 10 months of the Trump administration there have been quiet whispers that Democrats would attempt to impeach and remove Trump if they gain control of the House and Senate.
Now, those quiet whisper’s have been voiced out loud by Democrat Representative Al Green.
Watch Democrat Rep. Al Green layout the Democrat’s blueprint to impeach Trump:

Fox News covered Green’s remarks on impeaching Trump more in-depth:
Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, announced that he would submit articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump on Thursday morning, framing the vote as a sort of litmus test for his party on its opposition to the administration.
“There will be articles of impeachment filed before the Christmas break. This, I pledge,” Green said. “We have to participate. This is a participatory democracy. The impeachment requires the hands and the guidance of all of us.”
He confirmed he would introduce the motion as privileged, a status that forces its consideration within two legislative days. The motion can be tabled before the impeachment itself comes to a vote.
Green also said he and other advocates would hold a peaceful protest at the Lincoln Memorial on Saturday.
The announcement of Green’s impeachment effort — his fifth set of filed articles — comes as the Democrat base in Congress has wrestled with how to effectively fight Trump.
ADVERTISEMENTSome in the more progressive wing of the party have spoken out against figures like Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., over Senate Democrats’ failing to secure concessions out of a 43-day government shutdown. Even before the shutdown, other figures in the party, like Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner, had called for new party leadership in Congress to more effectively put up resistance to Republican momentum in Congress.
As some of you already know Rep. Al Green is not a fan of President Trump.
Back when Trump gave a speech before lawmakers at the Capitol, Green was removed from the chamber after disrupting President Trump’s speech.

CBS News reported more on the incident:
President Trump’s address to a joint session of Congress was quickly interrupted Tuesday night, as Democratic Rep. Al Green of Texas stood and shouted in protest when Mr. Trump began touting his victory in the 2024 election. Green was quickly escorted from the House chamber.
Green, 77, has represented a Houston, Texas, district in the House since 2005.
ADVERTISEMENTThe Texas Democrat has previously pushed to remove Mr. Trump from office, authoring articles of impeachment against him during the president’s first term. He threatened to do so again last month after the president suggested the U.S. would take over Gaza.
After Mr. Trump kicked off his speech declaring that “America is back,” to applause and chants of “USA” from Republicans, he celebrated his victory in the 2024 election, saying “the presidential election of Nov. 5 was a mandate like has not been seen in many decades.”
As the president cited his victory in the swing states and claimed to have won the popular vote by “big numbers,” Green could be seen shouting as he stood and raised his cane in the president’s direction.
