SHOTS FIRED as Masked U-Haul Driver Speeds BACKWARDS Towards US Coast Guard Base

A violent encounter occurred at a US Coast Guard base involving a U-Haul truck last night in San Francisco.

Security personnel protecting the entrance to the base opened fire on the truck as it careened backwards towards them.

The driver had been seen previously driving erratically outside the gate, as anti-ICE protests were ongoing prior to the encounter.

Fox News broke the story with a video taken from the scene as gunfire erupted:

Here’s a slightly longer version of that clip from YouTube for backup and easier viewing.

This was shared by the local Fox affiliate out of San Francisco:

The Coast Guard has since emphasized that the vehicle posed a ‘direct threat’.

They have also confirmed no Coast Guard personnel were injured, issuing this statement:

Here’s the full text of that statement from the Coast Guard:

ALAMEDA, Calif. — At approximately 10:00 p.m. (PDT) on Thursday, Coast Guard security personnel standing watch on Coast Guard Island observed a vehicle driving erratically and attempting to back into Coast Guard Base Alameda.

Coast Guard personnel issued multiple verbal commands to stop the vehicle, the driver failed to comply and proceeded to put the vehicle in reverse. When the vehicle’s actions posed a direct threat to the safety of Coast Guard and security personnel, law enforcement officers discharged several rounds of live fire.

No Coast Guard personnel were injured during the incident. The Federal Bureau of Investigation is the lead agency for this investigation and we are coordinating with our law enforcement partners.

Additional information will be released as it becomes available.

Initially it was reported that the suspect had fled and had not been found.

That was soon proven somewhat inaccurate.

TWO individuals were found in local hospitals for treatment to wounds received during the incident, according to this report from Fox News:

U.S. Coast Guard personnel opened fire Thursday night on a U-Haul truck after its driver ignored commands to stop at the entrance of a California base, the agency said.

Dramatic video shows the box truck with its headlights on reversing toward security personnel stationed around a vehicle outside Coast Guard Base Alameda at around 10 p.m.

Moments later, flashes of gunfire erupted as officers shouted orders from a barricade. The U-Haul driver then hit the gas and accelerated forward.

The Coast Guard said security personnel standing watch on Coast Guard Island had witnessed the U-Haul truck “driving erratically and attempting to back into the base.”

Officers at the entrance then “discharged several rounds of live fire” after the driver of the U-Haul ignored “multiple verbal commands” to stop and then proceeded to back in toward the base’s entrance, according to the Coast Guard.

“When the vehicle’s actions posed a direct threat to the safety of Coast Guard and security personnel, law enforcement officers discharged several rounds of live fire,” the agency said in a statement.

The U-Haul had been parked outside the base for the better part of the day, CBS reported. The driver then fled after the shooting, the outlet reported.

Two men arrived at local hospitals for gunshot wounds after the shooting, according to The Mercury News. One of them is believed to be the driver of the U-Haul, the outlet said, citing sources.

The incident followed a protest outside the entrance on Thursday, during which demonstrators attempted to block U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents from entering the base, according to WABC-TV.

Dozens of California Highway Patrol officers wearing riot gear tried to disperse the crowd in order to allow civilian employees to leave. Two people were detained and taken away, the outlet reported. (Emphasis added.)

Unbelievably, Nancy Pelosi and US Rep. Kevin Mullin (CA) put out a joint statement saying STATE AUTHORITIES may be arresting federal agents.

Talk about being tone deaf!?

President Trump’s Deputy AG at the DOJ responded harshly to that intimidation tactic.

He called on California’s Democratic politicians to ‘stand down’ or else, according to this video report from Fox News:

Ultimately, one of the two individuals discovered in area hospitals was found to be a ‘bystander’.

The other, however, was identified as the driver of the truck and is currently being investigated.

He took a bullet to the stomach during the engagement, and is being evaluated by the FBI who is leading the investigation, as reported by the local ABC News affiliate:

The Coast Guard says that a vehicle attempted to ram the main gate around 10 p.m.

According to them, it attempted to back into Coast Guard Base Alameda. They said the driver ignored commands to stop and that’s when shots were fired.

The Coast Guard said that there are no injuries to their personnel, but the Department of Homeland Security released as statement saying that the truck driver and a bystander were injured. The truck driver was shot in the stomach and is being held for mental health evaluation. The bystander was hit by a fragment, treated at the hospital, and released.

Federal agents arrived early Thursday morning at Coast Guard Island in Alameda and were met with protesters who tried to prevent the convoy from entering.

Dozens of CHP officers wearing riot gear tried to disperse a crowd of protestors at the entrance to allow civilian employees to leave, which resulted in two people being detained and taken away.

Earlier, hundreds of protesters were on the move outside the Coast Guard station, demonstrators blocking the entrance to the base, preventing a convoy of Federal Customs and Border Patrol agents from getting through.

Coast Guard security forces fired two flash bangs into the crowd, two protesters suffered injuries, one man had his foot run over, and another man was injured by the flash bang.

In researching this story, I found countless instances in which the mainstream media failed to draw any attention to the fact that protests had been ongoing outside the gates of this particular base.

Those reports, more often than not, also failed to mention that protesters had repeatedly attempted to block access to that Coast Guard base by ICE and CBP Agents.

Even this morning, protesters could be seen squaring off with federal agents who refused to allow the demonstrators the luxury of blocking the base entrance:

Currently the identity of the driver has not been released.

And although DHS is currently treating this as an individual incident — as opposed to a wider pre-determined plot to ‘attack’ the base…

The thread of consistency is obvious across multiple incidents just like this one in recent days.

We are now seeing the near daily weaponization of vehicles in attacks on federal agents.

That’s a dangerous trend, and it’s amazing that no one was killed in this occurrence.

We’ll continue to bring you the latest as the uptick in violence against ICE and immigration authorities continues to escalate.
