DEVELOPING: “IT Outage” Grounds Flights Nationwide For Airline


Alaska Airlines has grounded flights nationwide due to an IT outage.

“Alaska Airlines is experiencing an IT outage affecting operations. A temporary ground stop is in place. We apologize for the inconvenience,” the airline stated.

“If you’re scheduled to fly tonight, please check your flight status before heading to the airport,” it added.

ABC News noted:

Alaska Airlines flights are grounded nationwide on Thursday after the airline said it is experiencing an “IT outage affecting operations.”

The airline has requested the FAA for the ground stop.

NBC 5 Chicago shared:

The airline sent a statement to NBC Chicago regarding the outage, reiterating what was said on social media: “Alaska Airlines is experiencing an IT outage affecting operations. A temporary ground stop is in place. We apologize for the inconvenience.”

The ground stop affects Alaska Airlines flights at all airports nationwide.

Alaska Airlines services the Chicago area via the O’Hare International Airport.
