Elon Musk’s explanation of why TPUSA Founder Charlie Kirk was assassinated was perfectly stated.
Musk, shortly after he arrived at Charlie Kirk’s memorial service, was asked by a reporter, “Why was Charlie killed?”
The CEO of Tesla responded as bagpipes were playing in the background, “He was killed because his words made a difference.”
Musk then added, “Because he was showing people the light.”
“And he was killed by the dark,” concluded Musk.

Unilad Tech provided context to Musk’s profound statement:
There has been plenty of speculation surrounding the motivation behind Charlie Kirk’s death earlier this month, yet Elon Musk has offered his own ominous assertion when asked about it at the memorial service on Sunday.
22-year-old Tyler Robinson has since been arrested and charged with the murder of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University, with one major sheriff describing the moment that law enforcement managed to capture the suspected killer on the run.Key evidence has been uncovered surrounding Robinson’s premeditated decision to kill the far-right commentator, with messages left inscribed on the bullets he used, a hand-written note found at the scene, and disturbing Discord messages revealed by the FBI.
However, there still remains plenty of speculation and mystery surrounding the concrete reasons why Robinson targeted Kirk during his ‘American Comeback’ tour, and Elon Musk has seemingly offered his own interpretation of the events.
After pausing briefly to think of an answer, Musk asserted: “He was killed because of his words, because his words made a difference. Because he was showing people the light, and he was killed by the dark.”
While this rather ominous statement leaves a lot up to interpretation, some might suggest that it hints towards a political motivation with the ‘dark’ being those that opposed Kirk on the other side of the political spectrum.
Robinson himself outlined to his roommate in now-exposed messages that he “had enough of [Kirk’s] hatred” when asked why he decided to kill him, adding that “some hate can’t be negotiated out.”
ADVERTISEMENTHe also claimed that he “had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and I’m going to take it.”
An indictment from Robinson’s mother also claimed that her son had leaned towards left-wing politics and become “more pro-gay and trans-right oriented” over the past year.
Elon Musk and President Trump notably reunited during Kirk’s memorial.

KATV reported more on Musk and Trump making up:
President Donald Trump and Elon Musk, who used to head the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), shook hands and spoke to each other at a memorial service for political activist Charlie Kirk on Sunday.
Musk sat next to Trump in the Arizona stadium suite the president was already in. The two men then shook hands and spoke together for several minutes, and Trump gave Musk a pat on the back as the businessman exited.
The White House shared a black-and-white photo of Trump and Musk leaning in toward one another in a post on social media platform X, captioning it, “For Charlie.” Musk used the same caption in a photo of him and the president in his own X post.
ADVERTISEMENTThe former DOGE head, who is also the chief executive of Tesla, left the White House in May and publicly argued with Trump about the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. The bill eliminated electric vehicle tax credits and grew the federal deficit, which DOGE had a mission of reducing.
Musk expressed support on X in June for removing Trump from office and claimed the president is in files related to Jeffrey Epstein, who was charged with a child sex trafficking scheme.
Trump said he asked Musk to leave the White House because he was “wearing thin,” noting the businessman went “crazy” as a result of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act’s elimination of tax credits. Trump also said in July he was considering deporting Musk.
