Vice President JD Vance Says Charlie Kirk Was A Martyr For The Christian Faith

Vice President JD Vance gave a speech at Charlie Kirk’s memorial service on Sunday evening and was welcomed with thunderous applause.

JD Vance noted during his speech that he revealed that in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s death, he has spoken more about Jesus Christ in the last two weeks than he has in his entire life.

One of the best parts of Vance’s speech was when he quoted John 16:33, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

He concluded by sharing that Charlie Kirk was a martyr for the Christian faith.

Newsweek reported more on Vance’s passionate speech:

Vice President J.D. Vance received a wave of applause as he addressed the crowd at Charlie Kirk’s memorial, framing the event not as a funeral but “a revival.” Vance praised Kirk as “a great American leader” and “a martyr for the Christian faith,” saying, “Tonight we speak with Charlie and for Charlie louder than ever.”

“He showed all of us how to carry on after his death,” Vance said, adding, “America was his home and he was willing to die for it.” He invoked ancient philosophy, noting Kirk “stood for a decision that Socrates established 5,000 years ago.”

Vance urged the crowd to reject fear and embrace truth: “It is better to face a gunman than live your life afraid to speak the truth.” He closed with a vow: “For Charlie, we will rebuild this United States of America to greatness. For Charlie, we will never shrink, we will never falter… even when staring down the barrel of a gun.”
