What’s going on in the United States?

A man in Pennsylvania was arrested after he allegedly drove his car into a metal gate outside of an FBI building in Pittsburgh.

FBI Special Agent in Charge Christopher Giordano shared that the act is being investigated as an “act of terror”.

The man who was arrested has been identified as Donald Henson.

ABC News had the following details to add to the “act of terror”:

A Pennsylvania man was apprehended after he drove his car into a metal gate at the FBI building in Pittsburgh early on Wednesday, a ramming that federal law enforcement officials described as intentional.

Donald Henson, of Penn Hills, allegedly drove at a high rate of speed toward the main entrance gate at about 2:40 a.m., FBI Special Agent in Charge Christopher Giordano said during a press briefing.

The FBI confirmed late Wednesday morning that Henson was apprehended “a short time ago.”

“We look at this as an act of terror against the FBI,” Giordano said earlier on Wednesday. “This was a targeted attack on this building.”

There was “some vulgarity” scrawled on the side of the vehicle, the FBI said. The full details of what was written were not immediately clear, Giordano said, adding there appeared to be a reference to suicide.

WTAE provided some witness statements:

“He got out and went around the passenger side and pulled something out of the passenger side. I thought it was a gun but it happened to be a flag and he just set it on that fence and started yelling out some words and just took off.”

Cierra Posey, who also works nearby, described the driver as being incoherent as he walked away from the scene.

“He just walked away like nothing happened,” added another nearby worker, Idez Columbie.

According to federal officials, Henson is a former military member and is known to have some mental health issues.

The FBI said Henson previously visited the building about two weeks ago to file some sort of complaint, which officials said was unfounded and did not make much sense.

“Like I said, we consider this an act of terror because it was directly against the FBI. He has come here in the past. He specifically targeted this building because it’s the FBI building,” Giordano said.
