Ben Shapiro: “We’re Going to Pick Up That Blood-Stained Microphone Where Charlie Left It”

Just days after Charlie Kirk was brutally assassinated, Daily Wire founder Ben Shapiro discussed plans to follow in his footsteps.

Shapiro announced that he won’t be deterred and will be visiting college campuses.

In his words, “we’re going to pick up that blood-stained microphone where Charlie left it.”

Somewhat uncharacteristically, Shapiro also dropped several expletives in his rant about Charlie Kirk’s assassination.

For those who prefer to read, here’s a transcript of Ben Shapiro’s remarks:

Now, it’s still up to us. I saw a lot of rumors online today. I was made aware of this by my team that I canceled some sort of college tour. That’s bullsh*t. I saw those rumors. They are false. I will be coming to college campuses, many of them this year. So will we all, I am sure, because we’re Americans and we’re not going to be deterred.

Charlie’s voice is not silent. We’re going to pick up that blood stained microphone where Charlie left it, and to those who would intimidate, who would seek to stop us, who would seek to end free discussion, who believe that they have ownership over public spaces and can violently threaten and kill people who speak freely, we are not going to stop. And I have two words: F*ck you.

We will not stop telling the truth. We will never stop telling the truth. We will never stop debating and discussing. We will never stop standing up for what America is and for what you should be. And we will never let Charlie Kirk’s voice die. Goodbye to my friend, Charlie Kirk. May your memory be a blessing for your family and for your country and for all of us.

While we certainly shouldn’t let the movement that Charlie Kirk started die out, something about Shapiro’s wording just isn’t sitting right with me — particularly, that image of the “blood-stained microphone.”

To me, it sounds very cold and callous. Or at least, rather distasteful.

But, to give Shapiro the benefit of the doubt, perhaps we are all grieving in our own way.

Still, his remarks are proving very controversial on social media over these remarks.

Conservative radio host Michael Savage blasted Shapiro, accusing him of trying to “cash in” on Charlie Kirk’s reputation:

Other folks also felt like Shapiro’s wording here was rather…off:

But, other social media users agreed with the sentiment he expressed:
