Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old monster who assassinated Charlie Kirk reportedly threatened to kill himself after confessing to his father.

Tyler’s dad is a veteran police officer and recognized his son from the photos of the suspected assassin released by authorities.

He confronted his son about it, and Tyler admitted he was the assassin on the spot.

He then threatened to kill himself, telling his dad that he would rather commit suicide than turn himself in.

KIRK ASSASSINATION SUSPECT THREATENED SUICIDE BEFORE ARREST

Tyler Robinson, accused of killing Charlie, told his father he’d rather kill himself than surrender when confronted about the shooting, law enforcement sources say.

His father recognized him from photos released by the police and pressed him.

Robinson admitted pulling the trigger but initially refused to turn himself in.

The father persuaded him to meet with their youth minister, who is also a U.S. Marshals fugitive task force officer, and the FBI took him into custody soon after.

Per CBS News:

Tyler Robinson’s father saw the photos released by authorities and confronted his son about them, two federal law enforcement sources told CBS News.

Robinson admitted to his father that he was the person in the photos, those sources said. Robinson’s father urged him to turn himself in, but Robinson said he would rather commit suicide than turn himself in, the federal law enforcement sources said.

Robinson’s father called a youth pastor who knows Tyler and is close to the family, and he and the pastor tried to calm Robinson down. The sources said the pastor, who also serves as a court security officer, called the U.S. Marshals. The Marshals detained Robinson and kept him secure, while waiting for the FBI. The FBI then took Robinson into custody.

It appears like law enforcement is taking Robinson’s suicide threat very seriously.

In his mugshot, it looks like he is wearing a ‘suicide gown’ intended to prevent prisoners from killing themselves while in custody.
