“We Call It The Rose Garden Club” – President Trump Unveils White House Renovation Project

President Trump unveiled the newly renovated Rose Garden at the White House on Friday night.

Trump hosted a dinner for members of Congress at the first gathering at what he called the “Rose Garden Club.”

“We call it the Rose Garden Club. And it’s a club for senators, for congresspeople and for people in Washington, and frankly, people that can bring peace and success to our country,” Trump said, according to the Associated Press.

Trump said he intended to host tech executives at the Rose Garden Club on Thursday night, but the weather prevented it.

The cost of the renovation, started in April, was not disclosed. The Rose Garden is only one of Trump’s recent renovation projects at the White House. He’s filled the Oval Office and the cabinet room with golden decor, erected two 100-ft flag poles on the North and South lawns and is also planning on building a self-funded $200 million ballroom by the East Wing.

The decor particularly the yellow umbrellas, recalled Trump’s private club at Mar-a-Lago, where he frequently has lunch and dinners with VIPs — and often controls the music. Songs such as “Whiter Shade of Pale” by Procol Harum and “Are You Lonesome Tonight?” by Elvis have been heard from the front of the White House in past weeks as Trump tested out the sound system.

“The Rose Garden Club at the White House is the hottest place to be in Washington, or perhaps the world. The president looks forward to welcoming top business, political, and tech leaders for this dinner and the many dinners to come on the new, beautiful Rose Garden patio,” White House spokesman Davis Ingle told the New York Post.

Trump adviser Steven Cheung announced the “club” opening on social media with a picture of a gold embossed stationary sheet reading “The Rose Garden Club at the White House” sitting next to a polished silverware set.

Earlier this summer, Trump unveiled plans to pave over the Rose Garden, a historic spot outside the Oval Office that has served as the backdrop of historic presidential moments for more than a century.

The old garden, he told reporters on Aug. 3, was “always wet and damp.”

“When we had a press conference, you’d sink into the mud,” he told reporters. “If it rained it would take three, four, five days to dry out and we couldn’t use it really for the intended purpose.”
