Two deputies were shot Thursday night while serving a warrant in Kentucky.
“At this time, numerous law enforcement agencies are on the scene in Walton, Kentucky, responding to an active shooter situation after two Boone County deputies were shot. Authorities confirm the situation remains highly volatile, with multiple rounds fired. Residents in surrounding neighborhoods have been ordered to shelter in place, and officials are urging the public to stay clear of the area entirely for their safety,” Rawsalerts wrote.
“Emergency medical crews are also on standby, but it is not yet clear what type of injuries the deputies sustained. Roads near the scene have been closed, and a heavy police presence remains as officers work to secure the area,” the post added.

According to reports, the suspect died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

A man is dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after he shot and wounded two deputies at a Boone County apartment complex late Thursday, Aug. 28, officials said.
Major Phillip Ridgell with the Boone County Sheriff’s Office said the deputies went to the Towne Creek Crossing Apartments in Walton around 10 p.m. to serve a warrant and were met with gunfire.
Both deputies were taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where they were listed in stable condition, Ridgell said.
Ridgell recounted what happened next.
After the initial shooting, the man barricaded himself alone inside the residence and a SWAT team with negotiators were called to the scene.
“This is the worst nightmare type of situation,” he said.

“This is a worst nightmare type of situation,” Ridgell said after the shooting.
However, Ridgell noted in a later update that both deputies’ prognoses are “pretty positive.”
Ridgell said the man who fired shots remained barricaded inside his apartment as multiple SWAT and law enforcement agencies worked to get him out.
Officials were able to confirm via drone that the suspect died by self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Video provided to us shows the moment officers began to run as shots appear to be fired from inside the building Thursday night.
Ridgell said no other deputies or residents were injured and a criminal investigation is ongoing.
