President Trump Hints Ukraine Should Go On The Offensive Against Russia

President Trump, in his latest Truth Social post, hinted that it’s okay for Ukraine to go on the offensive against Russia.

Trump, in a Truth Social post on Thursday morning, shared it’s hard for Ukraine to win the war if they are not allowed to attack Russia.

Trump’s comments came hours after Ukraine went on the offensive and attacked Russian oil refineries.

“It is very hard, if not impossible, to win a war without attacking an invaders country. It’s like a great team in sports that has a fantastic defense, but is not allowed to play offensive. There is no chance of winning! It is like that with Ukraine and Russia.

Crooked and grossly incompetent Joe Biden would not let Ukraine FIGHT BACK, only DEFEND defend. How did that work out? Regardless, this is a war that would have NEVER happened if I were President – ZERO CHANCE. Interesting times ahead!!! President DJT,” Trump went on in his lengthy post.

Trump suggests Ukraine should "play offense." Of course, would be better placed to do so with more longer range American arms flowing to Kyiv.

The New York Post provided context on Trump’s Truth Social post:

President Trump fired off a Truth Social post Thursday morning defending Ukraine’s counterattack on Russia.

“It is very hard, if not impossible, to win a war without attacking an invaders [sic] country. It’s like a great team in sports that has a fantastic defense, but is not allowed to play offensive. There is no chance of winning! It is like that with Ukraine and Russia,” Trump wrote.

The president was likely referring to Ukraine’s strikes on oil refineries inside Russia.

Ukraine also invaded Russia’s Kursk region in 2024, and successfully hit air bases deep inside Kremlin territory with a secret drone attack called “Operation Spiderweb” in June.

Trump had supported Ukraine’s counteroffensive on Kursk back in August of 2024, telling The Post at the time that the Ukrainians had to fight.
