Ever since President Trump set his sights on cleaning up our nation’s capital, the fake news media has not shut up about how D.C. crime statistics are (allegedly) down.
In an apparent attempt to gaslight the public into believing that President Trump is acting ridiculous, media outlets keep repeating the claim that crime in Washington, D.C. is at a 30-year low.
Of course, one look at the streets of D.C. proves otherwise, but these people don’t like to believe what you can see with your own eyes.
Nor do they care about protecting the residents of D.C. and making our capital a safe, beautiful place to live and work.
They simply care about pushing an anti-Trump narrative — and, that requires manipulating crime statistics to make D.C. look safer than it actually is.
Today, President Trump addressed these “phony” statistics that the media keeps quoting.
He announced that those responsible for fudging the numbers are now being investigated.

Here’s a transcript of what President Trump had to say:
They are under investigation right now. They are giving us phony crime stats, just like they gave other stats in the financial world. But they’re phony crime stats, and Washington, D.C., is at its worst point, and it will soon be at its best point. You’re going to have a very safe, you’re going to have a crime-free city.
By the way, President Trump’s claim that D.C. crime statistics are “phony” is not baseless.
Just last month, a D.C. police commander was suspended after getting caught changing violent crime statistics.
Take a look at this:
If “crime in DC is at a 30 year low” then why does it have 1 of the highest murder rates in the world?

BREAKING: DC police Commander Suspended, accused of “COOKING THE BOOKS” for favorable Crime Statistics
Now why in the world would they want to lie about crime statistics in DC, I wonder? https://t.co/CMprFXrn4G pic.twitter.com/827bxWW9ev

And, even with phony numbers, the D.C. murder rate is still higher than the U.S. average, as well as many other capital cities in the world.

The Washington Examiner noted:
One issue, along with the district’s high murder rate, is that officials have faced accusations of altering crime stats to make Washington appear safer than it is.
Trump appeared to endorse that view, saying he will get to the bottom of the matter.
ADVERTISEMENT“You’re going to have a crime-free city,” he added. “We’re not playing games. These are criminals we’re dealing with.”
It’s about time we get to the bottom of things.
Just today, pro-Trump legal group American First Legal Foundation launched an investigation into the bogus D.C. crime statistics.
It’s not clear if this is the investigation that President Trump was referring to or if a separate, federal investigation will be launched soon.
Fox News has more details on the AFL investigation:
A pro-Trump legal group founded by White House aide Stephen Miller filed a FOIA request Thursday seeking all crime records and data compiled by the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department, as part of an effort to scrutinize information and crime statistics that senior adminis tration officials allege have been “manipulated.”
The request by the America First Legal Foundation (AFL) includes demands for a wide range of documents from D.C.’s police force, including all email communications or internal guidance reflecting any changes in the department’s tracking or reporting of crimes in the city, as well as any records “reflecting the falsification or non-publication” of crime data and statistics, among other things.
It is part of a broader investigation AFL launched on Thursday, just four days after President Donald Trump issued his order to temporarily federalize D.C. both by deploying hundreds of D.C. National Guard troops into the city, and temporarily taking federal control of D.C.’s police force to crack down on crime.
In the FOIA request, AFL also asked for records of “all communications” related to Michael Pulliam, the D.C. police officer who was placed on administrative leave in May, after he was accused of changing crime statistics to minimize crimes.
Pulliam formerly served as a police commander for the Metropolitan Police Department’s Third District, which includes Adams Morgan and Columbia Heights.
The Pulliam investigation has become something of a political lightning rod in recent days, as Trump officials have pointed to the investigation and his leave as evidence that MPD has sought to manipulate or massage crime statistics in the nation’s capital.
News of the AFL probe comes as President Donald Trump and White House officials have blasted what they describe as a “ridiculous” amount of crime in D.C., and claimed repeatedly that the crime statistics in question might not be an accurate portrayal of the situation on the ground — something critics argue is simply justification for the administration to push through its executive order.
