Secretary of State Marco Rubio just gave a very insightful response to a reporter asking about the recent, very controversial performance of Jesus Christ Superstar at the Hollywood Bowl.
Black, LGBTQ, female actress Cynthia Erivo was cast in the role of Jesus Christ in a move meant to undermine Christian values.
In other words, complete blasphemy.
The result was absolutely demonic.
If you haven’t seen it yet, here are some clips:

It’s no surprise she looks exactly like how demons have always been portrayed.
And let’s be real… if you dress like a demon, act like a demon, and mock God like a demon… don’t be shocked when people call it… pic.twitter.com/FKQLhtJdFz

This is intentional blasphemy from Hollywood.

Marco Rubio condemned Ervio’s portrayal and said that stuff like this is only done to “be provocative.”
But then, he went on to deliver a strong message to Christians, noting that “for people of faith, none of this should be new.”
At its core, Christianity is counter-cultural and always has been.
“Christianity has been attacked from its very inception,” Rubio said, “In fact, the Church has traditionally been at its strongest when it’s the persecuted Church.”

Marco Rubio is absolutely right, of course.
His wise words are backed up by Scripture.
As Rubio noted, Jesus Christ himself told us that the world will hate us, because it hated him first.
“If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.”
-John 15:18-19

So, it shouldn’t be surprising that the world continues to persecute those of faith.
But, that’s where our strength lies.

CHRISTIANITY: Why is it perfectly acceptable to have a black queer woman to portray a demonic Jesus Christ in the Hollywood Bowl but not the Prophet Muhammad? Marco Rubio points out that the Christian church is at its strongest when it is attacked – he is right. The fact that Cynthia Erivo’s was able to give her blasphemous performance of Jesus is a testament to the superiority of western values over Islamic values. I want to live in a world where Erivo is allowed to live in peace. She wouldn’t last a minute in an Islamic country…
Thank you, Marco Rubio.
It’s really nice to have a man of strong faith in such a prominent role at the White House (truly, praise the Lord that we now have multiple Christian leaders in power.)
I’m proud to have him as our Secretary of State.
What about you?
