The man in the costume was identified as 41-year-old Jermell J. Jones.
He was arrested for credit card theft and fraud.
Tallahassee Democrat reported:
TPD spokesperson Jerome Maples confirmed the legitimacy of the photos and said that TPD arrested a man on three felonies. He was unable to provide further details. The Democrat has asked TPD for more information about the case and how it handles arrests at businesses when children and families are present.
Reached at the restaurant, an employee said he couldn’t comment on the case as it had no connection to Chuck E. Cheese as a business.
“It’s unfortunate that it happened here,” he said, emphasizing the arrest didn’t have anything to do with the company.
According to the County Clerk of Courts website, the arrested man was charged with three felonies – theft of credit card, criminal use of personal identification information and fraudulent use of a credit over two times within six months.
Reportedly, Jones was arrested right in the middle of a kid’s birthday party.
Per TMZ:
It’s unclear … but it appears Tallahassee cops knew the identity of the man inside the mouse and knew where he worked, because they promptly arrived on scene, and removed the faux mouse from the joint — right in the middle of a children’s birthday party in progress. Apparently, this wasn’t Jones’ first fake credit card caper. He allegedly did the same thing at least once before in the last 6 months.
What a way to celebrate your birthday!
These kids are never going to forget it:
I’m just hoping those children in the background aren’t TOO traumatized by what they just saw 🤣 pic.twitter.com/NRdmzkqG0x
