ALI REACTS: Trump Admin SUES California!

The Trump Administration is done playing Mr. Nice Guy.

You just can’t work with some people, and that seems to be true for Gavin Newsom.

So what’s left?

Sue them into compliance!  And I’m all for it.

As we previously reported here on WLT Report:

The Trump administration filed a lawsuit against California over its policy to allow biological males to compete against female athletes.

Attorney General Pam Bondi and Secretary of Education Linda McMahon announced the lawsuit.

“Only women in women’s sports under Title IX,” Bondi said.

“The Department of Education and the Department of Justice – we will protect girls in girls’ sports,” she added.

Check it out:

“The Governor of California has previously admitted that it is ‘deeply unfair’ to force women and girls to compete with men and boys in competitive sports,” Bondi said in a press release.

“But not only is it ‘deeply unfair,’ it is also illegal under federal law. This Department of Justice will continue its fight to protect equal opportunities for women and girls in sports,” she added.

More from the Justice Department:

The Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division today filed suit to enforce Title IX and protect California female student athletes from unfair competition and reckless endangerment by male participation on female high-school sports teams.

According to the complaint, the California Department of Education (CDE) and the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) have engaged in illegal sex discrimination against female student athletes by allowing males to compete against them, depriving these girls of the equal education and athletic opportunities afforded to them by federal civil rights law. Thus, the suit seeks declaratory, injunctive, and damages relief for violations of Title IX, which prohibits sex-based discrimination in any education program or activity that receives federal funding.

As alleged in the complaint, the U.S. Department of Education’s “current allocation of funds to CDE for fiscal year 2025 totals approximately $44.3 billion, of which approximately $3.8 billion remains available for drawdown by CDE, including both discretionary grants and formula grants.”

The lawsuit follows California rejecting a resolution agreement to keep men out of women’s sports, becoming the second state to defy the Trump administration on the issue.

California Defies Trump Administration – Will Allow Biological Males In Female Sports

“California has just REJECTED our resolution agreement to follow federal law and keep men out of women’s sports. Turns out Gov. Newsom’s acknowledgment that ‘it’s an issue of fairness’ was empty political grandstanding. @CAgovernor, you’ll be hearing from @AGPamBondi,” McMahon said.

ABC News provided further details:

In a statement to ABC News on Wednesday, a spokesperson for Newsom slammed the Trump administration and Secretary of Education Linda McMahon.

"It wouldn't be a day ending in 'Y' without the Trump Administration threatening to defund California. Now Secretary McMahon is confusing government with her WrestleMania days -- dramatic, fake, and completely divorced from reality. This won't stick," the statement said.

The Justice Department's suit comes amid a wider debate surrounding transgender athletes in women's and girls' sports and the role the federal government plays in regulating their involvement.

In February, President Donald Trump signed an executive order banning transgender athletes from participating in women's sports, fulfilling a promise that was at the center of his 2024 campaign.

Titled "Keeping Men Out of Women's Sports," the order mandates immediate enforcement, including against schools and athletic associations that "deny women single-sex sports and single-sex locker rooms," according to the document, and directs state attorneys general to identify best practices for enforcing the mandate.
