Israel Says It Tricked Iran’s Air Force

Israel’s attack on Iran is still unfolding with reports in the last hour of new waves of strikes taking place.

As more information comes out, it is becoming clear that the Israeli military and intelligence services lived up to the creativity they often use against their enemies.

Before any bombs fell or missiles struck their targets, a plan was put in to motion that ensured the Iranian Air Force would be hamstrung during the first few waves of attack.

Simultaneously, Mossad agents were allegedly on the ground engaging in sabotage attacks to cut off Iran’s ability to respond — or defend itself — once the assault began.

Here’s some of the footage purported to be Israeli teams on the ground near Tehran, prepping the battlefield in advance of the operation:

By one count, Iran has already lost upward of 20 of it’s ‘most senior commanders’ as a result of Israel’s targeted decapitation strikes on the Iranian military leadership:

To our first point — sources are saying that a well-laid bit of trickery was put into motion against Iran to ensure optimal success.

Israel purportedly took certain actions that would allow them to pin down how the Iranian Air Force would respond to certain events.

And then, they played the Iranians like a fiddle… according to current reporting from Fox News:

An Israeli security official told Fox News that Israel was able to trick top commanders of Iran’s air force into gathering for a meeting.

“We carried out specific activities to help us learn more about them, and then used that information to influence their behavior,” the official said. “We knew this would lead them to meet — but more importantly, we knew how to keep them there.”

The official added that the strikes were more successful than Israel had anticipated. According to the source, air defense systems and ballistic missiles that were intended for use against Israel were preemptively targeted.

I haven’t been able to find any more details of exactly how Israel duped the Iranian Air Force… but it sounds fairly straightforward.

They simply tracked what the Iranians did in response to certain actions, and then duplicated them on cue — knowing specific actions would put into motion gatherings of senior leadership.

I can only assume that when Israel says they “kept them there”… what they really mean is they ‘un-alived’ them before they could join the fight.

There are also reports that the Israeli Air Force has been refueling in Syria!

At U.S. bases… in Syria!

Which leads me to wonder: when the U.S. says it talked to a “key” Mideast ally about the impending attack as I reported earlier this morning — was I wrong to assume that would have likely been the Saudis or Jordanians?

Did we alert the Syrians, led by a former (I would argue CURRENT… but that’s a different story) leader of al Qaeda!?

And did they actually go along with the plan to ASSIST Israel in attacking Iran?

Talk about a wild turn of events, if that turns out to be the case!

A reporter with Newsmax Australia has also given a little more insight into the preparatory actions of Mossad on the ground before the attack:

Unbelievable footage from Israel of Mossad agents inside Iran, placing and setting off drones to attack Iranian air defences.

An Israeli security official disclosed that Mossad conducted a three-phase covert operation within Iran, coordinated with Israeli Air Force (IAF) strikes nationwide. The goal was to disable Iran’s retaliatory capabilities against Israeli aircraft and civilian targets by targeting critical missile and air-defense systems internally.

Shadow Precision Strikes
In central Iran, Mossad operatives covertly positioned launch systems for precision-guided munitions near Iranian surface-to-air missile (SAM) sites. These weapons remained inactive until the Israeli offensive commenced, then fired simultaneously with high accuracy at predetermined targets, according to the official.

Disabling Air-Defence Networks
Another operation targeted Iran’s air-defence infrastructure. Mossad agents deployed advanced strike systems on regular looking civilian vehicles inside Iran. At the designated time, these systems activated, destroying key air-defence installations that threatened Israeli fighter jets on approach.

Esfajabad Drone Assault
The final phase involved a pre-stocked drone facility in Esfajabad (near Tehran) where Iran stores short-range ballistic missile launchers. Agents previously smuggled numerous explosive drones into the area. During the attack, these drones were activated and launched, obliterating Iranian missile platforms considered a threat to Israel.

That is certainly a far more complex attack than we’ve seen in the previous few months of back-and-forth attacks between Israel and Iran.

The Natanz enrichment facility was also hit, multiple times.

That location, shown in this video put out by the IDF, is one of Iran’s key uranium processing locations — and a primary target if somebody wanted to throw a monkey wrench into Iran’s nuclear ambitions:

Another bit of intrigue I am working hard to corroborate is coming out of Israeli media.

Not only did the Israelis trick Iran… but at least one unnamed official is alleging that the United States was in on the plot.

Sunday’s planned nuclear negotiations between the U.S. and Iran was a ploy to help catch the Iranians off guard, according to the Jerusalem Post:

Israel could be facing a month of significant exchanging of missile-based blows with Iran, a senior Israeli official told The Jerusalem Post.

The official added that the round of US-Iranian nuclear negotiations scheduled for Sunday was part of a coordinated US-Israeli deception aimed at lowering Iran’s guard ahead of Friday’s attack.

Another official told the Post on Friday that Israel did not have the capability to completely take out Iran’s nuclear program, and that the goal needed to be causing significant damage to Iran’s missile array and assassination of senior leaders, in a way that would encourage other Iranian actors to act to bring down the regime.

A third official, from the Knesset opposition, opined that the blows to Iran needed to be translated into a diplomatic achievement that would end Iran’s nuclear weapons program.

This was the most important and most difficult stage, the official said, adding that he was not sure whether or not Israel was fully coordinated with the US.

Obviously, that information is sketchy; three different unnamed Israeli officials seemed to give three different takes on the situation in that one story alone.

I would say the jury is still out on whether that much coordination was going on between the U.S. and Israel for this attack.

But it’s not impossible.

I have a hard time imagining Israel didn’t have the benefit of American intel and targeting help for this attack.

The possibility of an enormous Iranian response was simply too great; I don’t think they took the chance alone.

And the Israeli pre-battle operations to sabotage Iranian missile systems would answer the question as to why they haven’t retaliated, and no Iranian missiles have apparently reached Israel or U.S. facilities.

There have been scattered reports of dogfights between Israeli and Iranian jets over Iran, but I’m not sure those can be trusted:

This is still a developing situation, with reports starting to trickle in even now that more waves of attacks are happening in various parts of Iran.
