Mexican President Calls For More Protests In The United States

Is this an act of war?

Mexican President Claudia Sheibaum has urged illegal immigrants in the United States to protest more.

President Sheibaum’s statement comes as thousands of rioters have hit the streets of Los Angeles and New York City to protest ICE raids on illegal immigrants.

Many of the rioters have Mexican heritage and were seen waving the Mexican flag during the riots.

They wave the Mexico flag proudly, but do this to the American flag:

Live Mint had more details to add to the Mexican President’s statement:

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum defended migrants living in Los Angeles, and claimed that at least 35 Mexicans had been detained in the recent raids carried out by immigration officers of the Trump administration. The arrests made in Los Angeles in the immigration raids triggered a wave of protests in the region, which has even led to the deployment of the US National Guard, making critics concerned about the administration in the US turning “authoritarian”.

“Mexicans living in the United States are good men and women, honest people who went to the United States to seek a better life for themselves and to support their families. They are not criminals! They are good men and women!” Sheinbaum was quoted as saying in a speech.

Sheinbaum also stated that multiple Mexicans were arrested in the ongoing immigration raids conducted by the ICE officials. The count, as suggested by her, currently stands at 35. During her moving speech, she asked everyone to stand by the arrested Mexicans.

Los Angeles saw the deployment of the US National Guard after a major showdown between protestors and police, which even saw law enforcement throw tear gas at the incoming crowd. According to The Guardian, a car was set ablaze amid the tussle, with the anti-ICE protestors throwing objects at the police authorities. According to Bloomberg, the federal immigration agency claimed it arrested an average of 2,000 undocumented immigrants per day nationwide this week. This includes 118 people in the Los Angeles area itself.

CBS shared these details about the riots:

Hours after hundreds of National Guard troops ordered by President Trump deployed to Los Angeles on Sunday, they were met with protesters reacting to dozens of arrests in ongoing Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations in and around the Southern California city.

A confrontation broke out as a group of demonstrators protested in front of the Metropolitan Detention Center in downtown L.A. It followed a similar scene that occurred Saturday when a group of federal agents fired flash-bang grenades and tear gas canisters toward protesters outside the detention center

After clashes between immigration authorities and demonstrators in the cities of Paramount and neighboring Compton, where a car was set on fire, Mr. Trump signed a memo Saturday ordering the deployment of at least 2,000 National Guard troops to Los Angeles County.

The move appeared to be the first time in decades that a state’s national guard was activated without a request from its governor. California Gov. Gavin Newsom responded Sunday, calling for the administration to rescind the order and return control of the guard to the state.
