CNN reported:
CIA security officers shot and injured a woman who approached the front gates of the agency in a car around 4 a.m. ET on Thursday morning, according to a law enforcement source and another person familiar with the matter.
That person is now in custody.
It was not clear what led the agency security officers to open fire.
The shooting was “non-fatal,” according to a statement from the Fairfax County Police Department confirming the incident. No other details on the woman’s condition were immediately available.
At this time, we don’t know why the woman was trying to break through the gate at CIA HQ.
However, she does have a prior DUI on her record, and law enforcement are investigating whether she may have been drunk driving.
Per NBC News:
The woman who crashed into a gate at CIA headquarters has been preliminarily identified as 27-year-old Monia Spadaro, according to two senior law enforcement officials briefed on the incident.
Spadaro is being treated for the gunshot wounds, and law enforcement agencies are investigating whether or not she may have been intoxicated at the time of the crash.
There is no known connection between the CIA incident this morning and last night’s shooting of two Israeli government employees in Washington, D.C.
Court records show that Spadaro was found guilty on the 2021 DUI, according to Arlington General District Court.
Still, the timing of this incident is notable, considering two Israeli officials were shot dead in D.C. just hours prior.
What do you think?
Do you suspect a connection?
