JUST IN: President Trump Orders Alcatraz To Be Re-Opened!

President Trump just called for Alcatraz — the infamous, near-inescapable island prison off the coast of San Francisco, CA — to be re-opened.

In a post on Truth Social, President Trump said that he has ordered the Bureau of Prisons to work together with the DOJ, DHS, and FBI to re-open Alcatraz in order to house “the most dangerous criminals.”

Under President Trump’s order, the currently-defunct prison will be re-built to bring it up to standard. It will also be “substantially enlarged.”

In addition to holding “America’s most ruthless and violent offenders” away from society, President Trump says the prison will “serve as a symbol of Law, Order, and JUSTICE.”

For too long, America has been plagued by vicious, violent, and repeat Criminal Offenders, the dregs of society, who will never contribute anything other than Misery and Suffering. As you may recall, Alcatraz operated as a prison from 1943-1963 and housed many notorious criminals and mafia members.

The prison was nearly inescapable due to the freezing cold ocean water and strong currents surrounding the island.

However, that didn’t stop some prisoners from trying.

Fox News provided some background details:

Alcatraz opened in 1934, but the prison, located on a 22-acre spit of rock, was shuttered after 29 years.

Considering its 1.25-mile distance to shore, the Bay Area island was considered practically escape-proof, although there were 14 documented attempted escapes.

The most notorious one was the June 11, 1962, escape by John and Clarence Anglin and Frank Morris, which inspired “Escape from Alcatraz.”

It remains a mystery whether the three reached the shore and survived. The FBI concluded the escapees drowned due to harsh conditions.

The three prisoners chiseled an escape route from their own jail cells and built makeshift, papier-mâché heads.

The final attempted escape from the prison, almost six months later, inspired what has become the swimming route of the “Escape from Alcatraz” triathlon.

Its most notorious inmates included gangsters James “Whitey” Bulger, Al Capone and George “Machine Gun” Kelly, plus infamous “Birdman of Alcatraz” Robert Stroud and “Public Enemy No. 1” Alvin Karpis.

Alcatraz ultimately closed in 1963 after its island operations proved far more costly than mainland-based prisons.

He wants it to be reopened to house the most dangerous criminals in our country so that they literally cannot return to polite society to harm anyone ever again unless they swim through the shark infested waters outside of Alcatraz prison.

Rumor has it that prisoners who tried to escape from Alcatraz either drowned or were eaten by sharks.

Up until now, Alcatraz has been a popular tourist destination in San Francisco.

However, back in January, Donald Trump Jr. suggested that it should be re-opened. Now, it appears that his father took his very solid advice!

Trump, in his social media post, said the country can’t be held hostage by “criminals, thugs, and Judges that are afraid to do their job and allow us to remove criminals, who came into our Country illegally.”

The Republican has railed against federal judges who have slowed his effort to boot alleged gangbangers and ship them off to the infamous El Salvador megaprison.

Just last Thursday, District Judge Fernando Rodriguez – who was appointed by Trump – blocked the US government from using the Alien Enemies Act to deport suspected members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua.

Trump also ordered the FBI, the Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security to help get Alcatraz reopened.

The president previously reopened a detention center at Guantanamo Bay, where criminal migrants have been sent.

When that announcement was made in late January, one of the president’s sons, Donald Trump Jr., floated the idea of dumping prisoners in Alcatraz.

“Now this is a great idea,” he said in reference to Guantanamo Bay. “Maybe we should also reopen Alcatraz?!?!”
