President Donald Trump has amassed a diverse group of supporters, including podcaster Joe Rogan and billionaire Elon Musk, neither of whom could be described as traditional conservatives.
The two men have demonstrated similar opinions on certain topics, though, including Trump’s efforts to cut waste and fraud in the federal government.
After Rogan dedicated a segment of his podcast to the topic, Musk responded via social media.
As Western Journal reported, the initial rant hinged on a discussion about leftist calls for the rich to pay more in taxes:
“Is the money going to the federal government? Do you think they’re good at it? Do you think they’re good at managing your money? Have you paid attention to all the s*** Elon’s f***ing uncovered?” Rogan asked.
Musk reacted by saying the horrific waste and fraud he has uncovered as head of the Department of Government Efficiency is “just the tip of the iceberg so far.”
In other words, there’s more pervasive financial mismanagement than the public has been informed of, according to Musk.
Rogan said he’d be glad to pay taxes if the government actually did a good job managing the money.

DOGE has uncovered a plethora of waste, as chronicled over the course of the past couple of months:
Elon Musk at The White House Cabinet Meeting on @DOGE: “People ask me ‘How are you going to find waste and fraud in the government?’ — Actually you just go in any direction.. that’s how you find it.. as the military would say, target rich environment.” pic.twitter.com/wHtTaFhoyd

Good work by @USGSA for inking its first consolidated deal following the President’s Executive Order: Eliminating Waste and Saving Taxpayer Dollars by Consolidating Procurement.

Musk also offered a recent update on the situation, as The Street reported:
“Well, thanks to your fantastic leadership, this amazing cabinet, and the very talented Doge team, I’m excited to announce that we anticipate savings… by $150 billion,” Musk said. He mocked current inefficiencies, citing cases like “people getting unemployment insurance who haven’t been born yet,” calling it “just crazy.”
ADVERTISEMENTMusk described the federal landscape as a “target rich environment” for cutbacks, saying the savings would actually enhance public services. The comments came as Trump’s sweeping tariffs take center stage, and Musk is framing his agency’s mission as a vital counter to the problem — eliminating waste at home while the administration wars over trade imbalances abroad.
The department’s acronym, DOGE, alludes to Musk’s 2021 nickname, “The Dogefather,” a reference to his backing of the Dogecoin cryptocurrency. There, we see Musk’s quirky take on government reform, which is lighthearted branding.
