Joe Biden Planning Political Return?

Multiple outlets report that Joe Biden met with Democratic leaders and said he wants back into politics to boost a party currently in shambles.

According to NBC News, Biden held a meeting with Democratic National Committee chairman Ken Martin to offer help campaigning and raising funds.

Biden reportedly would do “anything else necessary” to help the crumbling party, the outlet noted.

So far, Biden’s overture seems to have fallen flat. Democrats find themselves adrift, casting about for a compelling messenger.

Whoever that is, it’s not Biden, many party activists and donors contend. He’s tethered to the 2024 defeat and, at 82, is a symbol more of the party’s past than its future, they argue.

“Who’s going to want Joe Biden back in the game?” said a major Biden supporter, speaking on condition of anonymity to talk candidly about him.

A spokesperson for the DNC didn’t provide a comment or make Martin available for an interview.

A new NBC News poll shows that the Democratic Party’s popularity has dropped to a record low. Only 27% of registered voters said they held positive views of the party — the lowest figure in the network’s polling dating to 1990.

Asked about the prospect of Biden re-entering the political sphere, President Donald Trump told reporters in the Oval Office Friday, “I hope so.”

The report follows a CNN poll finding the Democratic Party’s favorability among Americans reaching an all-time low.

The party’s favorability has fallen to 29%, the lowest ever recorded in over 30 years of polling data.

From the New York Post:

Recent public polling shows Democrats’ support has cratered, with less than one-third of Americans approving of the party’s performance since President Trump returned to the White House Jan. 20.

“The Bidens are still living in an alternative universe that revolves only around them,” a onetime senior White House adviser told The Post in response to the NBC report.

“Their irresponsibility, family ego and selfishness put the Democratic Party in this position in the first place … The Biden family — and the disconnected reality that they and their ineffective little circle live in — is responsible for the Trump sequel and the wilderness the Democratic Party finds itself in today,” this person said.

“Why?” asked another former Biden administration official. “That is my first question.”

“They can’t raise money either way,” this person said. “I think donors would be more inclined to donate if they [the Bidens] were not relevant.”

“Joe Biden should enjoy retirement at the beach in Rehoboth,” a third Biden alum added. “No voter wants to hear from him. He is delusional and arrogant to think that he can be a value add to the Democratic Party. We need to move on from the era of Joe Biden and embrace new, younger leadership.”
