The only apparent bright spot for Democrats after November’s disastrous performance is that they are now able to blame all of the failures of the past four years on President Donald Trump.
Of course, such efforts to whitewash history tend to fall flat among the general population, though, since struggling Americans clearly remember the reality of the Biden administration.
This week, “The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg attempted to point a finger at the Trump administration for squandering the supposedly “robust” economy it inherited from the previous White House.

The Daily Caller wasted no time responding with a fact-check of the nation’s economy under Biden:
While the Biden administration touted its post-pandemic recovery, prices of gas, energy, groceries and other necessities soared throughout the former president’s term.
Much of the Biden presidency was blemished by stubborn inflation, with prices increasing by 20% in May 2024 during his term. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose from 1.4% at the beginning of the term to its peak of 9.1% in June 2022.
The prices of gas notably surged in the first half of the Biden administration, which the White House repeatedly blamed on Russian President Vladimir Putin following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in Feb. 2022.
Many economists argued that the Biden administration’s excessive spending further fueled inflation, including the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan and the $750 billion Inflation Reduction Act. The $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan included stimulus checks for Americans, debt bailouts for local and state governments and funding for vaccine rollouts, while the Inflation Reduction Act allocated $370 billion to green initiatives aimed at combating climate change.
Biden left office with a record high $711 billion federal deficit for the first quarter of the 2025 fiscal year and a national debt that reached $36.17 trillion just days before he left the White House. During his presidency, Biden imposed $1.7 trillion in new regulations as of Dec. 13 since his inauguration in January 2021, an analysis from the American Action Forum found.
A number of social media users also chimed in with their recollections of the past four years:
Whoopi, Whoopi, Whoopi… bless her heart. “Biden’s economy was amazing”? Amazing for who exactly? The millions struggling under skyrocketing inflation, the decimated middle class, the highest credit card debt in history, or maybe the families who can barely afford groceries and…

ADVERTISEMENTShe must be living in some fantasyland of The View echo chamber, where the price of eggs doesn’t matter and gas pumps dispense rainbows and unicorn dust. Meanwhile, in reality, Bidenomics was about as “amazing” as a dumpster fire in a hurricane.
Someone get this woman a basic economics book – or better yet, a reality check. Preferably one with pictures, since numbers might be too complicated for her.
Only in her dreams. The shopping cart told a different story.

Of course, Goldberg has a knack for revisionist history, as Fox News reported last year:
“The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg claimed Americans had “short memory issues” on Monday while discussing a question posed by Republicans about whether people felt “better off” than they were four years ago.
“So why is it some people are having short memory issues? There are plenty of other reasons to feel good about where we actually are. Why isn’t that tracking?” she asked.
At the end of the daytime talk show segment, Goldberg criticized the question and said it was “disrespectful to the American people.”
“Black people, we were not in this insanity of trying to figure out why our history’s no longer welcome in the educational system. Women were realizing something was happening. If you were coming from another country, if you were coming to this country to find a better life, you were not welcome. Listen. It wasn’t a good time for lots of people,” she said.
ADVERTISEMENT“All you have to do is ask, are we better off than we were? Ask the thousands of people who are no longer here. That’s how you know if we’re better off. Ask their families. Are they better off without their loved ones? What a stupid question. It’s a stupid question and disrespectful to the American people in my opinion, in my humble opinion.”
Goldberg also attracted criticism this week for her remarks about transgender athletes.
In the clip below, NFL legend Brett Favre reacts to those comments:
